Thanks had to darken up the second coat or wash to bring highlights out. The 50/50 alcohol base for the wash really lightens the colours once dried. However, doing multi layers really makes the colours work and blend naturally. Sent from my LG-D852 using Tapatalk
Ones coming I am just experimenting with the one side till I get it to my liking. Then I will make a good how too. On the rock faces on other side. Sent from my LG-D852 using Tapatalk
After a few more washes it was time to detail and weather with chalk powders. You can see the strata a bit more blended. Dirt spots and natural rust areas. Only thing left is sealing it with either diluted white glue or Matt clear spray. Haven't made up my mind. Any thoughts. After this I can start doing the tutorial vid on the other sides rock faces. I'd probably try the matte clear. Will this be from an art type of supplier? Or hardware store style rattle can? Or? If in doubt, might be worth a little mocking up on the work bench, and testing outcomes?
I was thinking krylon Matt finish for art. As it's low oder and truly Matt. The krylon or rustolum stuff is Satan so not real Matt and meant for wood or metal. The Matt art finish is good for plaster paper and other art mediums. First I thought of testors dull coat but would take to many cans I think. Sent from my LG-D852 using Tapatalk
Sulfer and other minerals. Wanted to show some strata. The Rocky's are millions of years old have to show that off. The yellowish bands along the bottom of the canyon is rover moss and rust from sediments deposited by the raging River soon to be added. Sent from my LG-D852 using Tapatalk
Amazing work Syrous!! I look forward to seeing your tutorial. I can only hope to get somewhere near your abilities.
It's just research of techniques in our hobby and be brave enough to try it. Attempting it is the first step. Thanks for the kind words. Sent from my LG-D852 using Tapatalk
Been a while since my last post been working on the yard. Put down the pad for the engine facility. Painted the depot pad concrete, and finished ballasting. The yard in field BC is all gravel so modelling this using sanded tile grout, been doing it in layers and it's coming out great. Let me know what you think. Sent from my LG-D852 using Tapatalk
