I notice that these have baggage doors. The Baltimore and Ohio did have some three/six door baggage cars. I wonder if MTL plans to offer these as baggage cars, as well, at least for roads that had such cars.

Nearly all of the horse cars went on to be used as express cars as horse travel declined. Most of these cars, by the mid- to late-50s, no longer carried horses, being used instead to haul large amounts of express. Most had their original doors, like shown on the model, replaced by newer doors, some of which were aluminum.

    OOOOOKKKAAAAYYYY???
Um... this is titled Joe's 'Horse car'... hmmm????

Definitely something that may be very road specific.
Didn't (initially) find anything on the web about a 'horse car'. (see next post)
Somehow... I doubt this to be a future Micro-trains passenger car release.
A 'red herring' perhaps to stir up conversation?
Perhaps it is a Joe's special request model... maybe for Joe himself.
Hahaha... I just noticed it's NOT Joe D'Amato of Micro-trains... LOL

Could this be a drover's baggage car?
Was there such a thing... similar to a drover's caboose?
Perhaps later in its life it was used in mail service instead of being used to carry horses.
That car is very unique looking... including those heavy duty side-frames on the trucks.

Inquiring minds are certainly confused on this one!

Not unusual for an express car.

Grandpa "Joe", where you been snoozin'? These were talked about over on TRW over two months ago. One of two different Espee horse cars coming... 70' from MT... 80' from Wheels...

In Baltimore and Ohio colors, this would certain fit nicely into an express mail train as a baggage car. I would go for some.

    ?????????????????????????????????????????????
this IS the next MT heavyweight release...scheduled after the heavyweight RPO-baggage which has just been released.
this has been discussed for over 3-4 months (mainly at the other forum since this one has had issues)...
Horse express cars have been discussed at length here; I've posted many pics of my custom ATSF Horse car builds right here on Trainboard.
Definitely not a road specific car...B&O, NYC, PRR, SP, UP, ATSF...many others all had cars of this type...
this particular car is a 70' SP prototype...
WOT is releasing an 80' Horse car...

The prototype is a 70' car built for the Southern Pacific in 1937. This is a MTL car, and they were posted by Joe D'Amato on Facebook.

You might want to consider the source before saying that it is a red herring...here is a screenshot from Facebook.

yea...strange...especially seeing how this isn't 'new' news...
I was waiting for the test shot (we got one from the baggage and the RPO/baggage...)
    this one looks good!
MT sure is helping us out with heavyweights AND, head end heavyweights in particular...gonna be hard to fork out the bucks that WOT charges, although the road-specific cars (especially the Harriman roof versions) should still be in demand.

I know. Perhaps it's just the light or color painted, which gave that impression.

Micro-Trains has announced that the first two horse car releases are going to be in January. They are going to be a New York Cental car and a Pennsylvania Car....waiting patiently for the SP car.....

Didn't these cars travel off line quite frequently ? I badly want the car type but I need (want) to justify it on the Milwaukee road in 1949.
