I'm having the same problem with the SP 40' Hi-Cube, the closest pictures I've found have been of the SSW cars. (Edit - this is in response to the pic of the BLE 50' box, I forgot to include the quotes...d'oh!)
Here's a link to one on RR Picture Archives. http://www.rrpicturearchives.net/showPicture.aspx?id=73628
The Railgoat site was the first place that I looked, it had 3 pics of the SSW cars and zero of the SP cars. Worst case scenario, the pictures of the SSW cars should be close enough to work with.
That's one of the cars that SP rebuilt with a raised roof and larger doors for appliance service: http://www.railgoat.railfan.net/spcars/bynumber/box/sp659000-659052.htm It would definitely be an interesting kitbash, but not one I'd dream of getting done in less than 3 weeks.
I have three potential candidates..... But I have only found one photo of the CN car and nothing on the others so far.....
Here's a picture of a Wabash double door car hiding under a nice coat of road filth http://www.rrpicturearchives.net/showPicture.aspx?id=4052974
Here is mine. Sorry, No before photo. This is a MT 40 double door boxcar. I removed the doors and made a Mil. Rd. ribbed 'green veneer car, I added a lumber door to the 'B' end. The ribs are .010 brass rods scribed and added. Card board was used for the veneer load and balsa for the supports. Um, people, this is a weathering contest with a timeframe. Three weeks to do the weathering, not a model weathered three years ago.
Ok here is my entry. It is a Microtrains 40 ft Double Door Box Car. I started off with a dull coat spray then softened up the white markings on the car with some alcohol. Next was a few acrylic washes of dark to light colors. I them moved on to using some weathering powders and finished with a final humbrol dull coat.
Thanks but my photo skills leave a lot to be desired. Some of my photos are horrendous. I need to get a little tripod and some better lighting. Working from my dining room table with CFL bulbs stinks! I can't wait to get my extra bedroom cleaned out so I can set up a work station. Anyone want some old bunkbeds!
I picked up one of these this year http://www.amazon.com/Perfect-3085-...49760646&sr=8-1&keywords=square+perfect+light My recent photos were taken using it, and really improves the quality and lighting. I replaced the bulbs with LEDs.
I have the exact same set-up, and its gotten me published 3 times . . . . what LEDs did you get and where?
