I tried my dad's Atlas RS3 and Broadway RSD 15 on my layout and every time I changed direction the sound would stop and go through the start up sequence again.

I have that problem when I use a controller that has a center off position. The controller I am using here goes directly from one direction to the other WITHOUT a center off position.

With the BLI mike I can sound the whistle by changing the direction switch momentarily. Could really do without the sound on this one too. After a while it get annoying. Had it running for the grandkids a few weeks ago and had to park it after about half an hour.

Nice find! I would make Norfolk Southern's "Brick" out of it! LOL! JMS

The problem with that is... the new handrails will still be too brittle! LOL! You are probably better off making new ones from brass! Repair looks quite good... add a little weathering and no one will notice! JMS

Ok John, without looking at the first set of pictures, which section was it!?! Hehe
I've got an old project Dash 8 40CW I built way back when. It is unpowered so it will donate its rails shortly. I think the rail height will work.

Matt, I looked at the old Atlas/Roco and it reminds me of something that would be seen in an old Soviet Bloc country! I bet you clean her up and make her look nice!

Here's an Atlas Occidental Chemical "corn syrup" car:

I got this because I see them pretty frequently when I'm out railfanning:

I added the yellow conspicuity stripes from Microscale MC-4389. I still need to add shelf type Kadees.

Last weekend was International Railfair here in Roseville.

I only saw a few things on my list prior to the vendors starting to sell, but they were all purchased before I could get away from the kids activity area which was my responsibility.

So, a few hours before show close, I wandered around and stumbled on ~$60 worth of stuff I didn't need, but wanted.

First up, this RPP shell and frame custom painted ATSF SD45. This is the work of a member of the Golden State model Railroad museum. $25. And it ran like a charm. High quality detail. only think it needs is a decoder and some TLC on the handrails.

Next up, I found this custom painted Kodachrome F45 with frame no trucks/motor. Got it for $10.
Dropped in the trucks and motor from a junker Athearn SD45 I had in the parts bin.
The paint job is a little heavy handed and there are some details that are missing, I can't decide if I'm going to reapply the details and leave it in the proto fleet, or strip it for use in my Freelance fleet.
    We shall see.

The vendor I got the F45 from was trying to push some more stuff on me. He insisted this was a dummy unit. I could see the metal trucks.
I don't have any WP equipment and he was offering it to me for $10. So I bought it. Sure enough it's a powered unit.

Not sure if I'm going to keep it or donate it to the club as the club doesn't have any WP and should given we're in Sac area.

Lastly, I was digging through a random parts bin that had Athearn shells...I noted a GP60M and GP60B shell which I was surprised by since I thought these were RPP shells that were post RTR and thus didn't come like this, but then, I saw they were painted!!!!!!!!! Oh Happy DAY! They wanted $10 a shell. I offered $18 for both. Not much of a discount, but $2 is $2.

I've been wanting a GP60M/B pair for some time, but couldn't justify the cost given my current collection. $18 though. I can scrounge up the parts to complete these over time.

Update to my post about the Fox Valley Models GP 60.
I emailed them regarding obtaining replacement handrails for the broken ones, email is their preferred method of contact per their website. 2 weeks and I have yet to see any answer from them. I am also noticing the fuel tank fits loosely and will drop on the rails and drag. It also appears that there is minimal clearance of the gear covers on the bottoms of the trucks. The model is getting hung on guard rails on turn-outs.

For a model that costs $150.00 plus, I'm a bit disappointed in them. If I hear back from them, I will be happy to let you all know.

Shouldn't this be in the "Show Us Your Freight Car Loads" thread? I can see it on a depressed center flat car!

Also, I went to another train show..... Pictures soon!

Been a long time since I have been on here. Picked up two of the Athearn SP SD40R's with sound. I like them The color looks darker and a little brown due to my lighting, it is not the model. The model color is right on.

New arrival on the AW is this Atlas Santa Fe B23-7, which joins two other ATSF locomotives on the roster. Still needs cab roof details adding.

I always liked the look of those "B" boats. Too Atlas wouldn't step up and offer the same level of detailing as Athearn.
