So, I've been on the lookout for some modern "G" Passenger equipment...American or European and I've been shocked by the lack of product. Looks like LGB used to do a P42, but not any more. I'd kill for an F59PHI or even modern Siemens stuff. Doesn't need to be ACS64 I guess I shouldn't be shocked. When I think of US "G," it's mostly Garden and mostly therefore Narrow gauge or at least Late 19th/Early 20th century steam. So I guess I'm not really shocked. I'm a bit more surprised by the lack of European product. The reason I'm looking is that my employer, a high tech firm wants to have a model train running around the office ceiling, but they don't want something old, they want something that reflects the new, modern, high tech world we are helping to create. There's plenty of prototypes out there that fit the goal...just not the models.
I know there have been diesels made which operated from the 1960's on to today. (SD45, GP40 and so on.) But don't know enough beyond that.
So, it looks like the G stuff is in their OneKing line. 1:32 scale. Anyone know how hard it is to switch MTH 1:32 over from DCS to DCC? And unfortunately, They no longer do a Genesis nor an F59PHI only the DASH 8 and no Superliner or other cars. So no bueno.
MTH cancels lines whenever his Tarot cards tell him to. Used market. Most folks I know dump it as the DCS is a PITA. Smart you fella like you should be able to figure out two wires to track, two to motor, two to headlight....surely enough room inside, especially once you gut the garbage out.
True enough. Alas, we're talking a corporate purchase here. New from a retailer that takes a corporate credit cars would be easier.
You could go for an LGB ICE train? I know somebody did Superliner cars that would be modern. The DCS to DCC is pretty simple. If any questions just message. Sent from my SM-G920P using Tapatalk
Yeah, but they don't do the ICE type any more. And..they don't have windows. Decals "simulate" windows. Maybe you need to think three-rail....
I would recommend go with O scale then. More options from Lionel, atlas, mth, and others. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk - now Free
LOL oh yes I forgot about that! stickers instead of real windows. He could always get custom made superliner cars or something? Sent from my SM-G920P using Tapatalk
If you go on ebay there is a set of g scale superliners for sale. You could always make the bodys on shape way or custom order? They are easy to make out of metal. Sent from my SM-G920P using Tapatalk
