Wild stuff there, Hank. I had never heard of those electric powered steam locos. Pennsy's S-2---One prototype produced, and thousands of Lionel O gauge models produced. On a separate note, I have lately been experiencing problems with YouTube audio. I have to crank my MAC speakers up full to just barely hear the audio. A few days ago, Kelly Lynch of the NKP 765 crew published an excellent video on the 765, on Trainorders the audio was fine. Same file on YouTube was nearly inaudible. Anyone else having that kind of problem? Yes, I know about the mute function on YouTube, and that's not the problem. The folks that produced those "strange" videos probably have one with New York Central's M-497, the fastest RDC in the world, powered by two J-47 jet engines.
I remember holding a Lionel S-2 when I was 12-ish. It was "Heavy As Lead", but GORGEOUS!!!!!!!! Wonder what one would be worth today????
Yup. I had a couple of them. I'm trying to remember- There were a a few variants, with assorted different tenders offered. Can't recall if they've also been re-run since the company was sold after 1969. They aren't particularly expensive and can frequently be seen in lesser conditions and at too high prices on eBay.
