I have a supply of nonfunctional steam locomotives to be able to model a scene like this.

I also dabble in N scale. Here's my only N scale steamer and of course it's a 4-4-0 which is by far my favorite wheel arrangement.

I think this is the Atlas locomotive; I purchased two of them. I hired dcc decoders installed in both. I fear you are going to have a problem with your because there
is fiber on the side rod that may end up in the gears.

Yup. It fell over onto the scenery as I carried it outside for this photo op in the natural sunlight. It's sitting on a 10"x10" base I use for shots like this. I'll use some compressed air to blow it clean. Thanks for catching that. It must have taken a neurosurgeon to install a decoder!

Very nice 2-6-6-6s. I realty the the prototype articulation on brass engines with the boiler swing. I miss having this on my Y3s my smallest curve is 19" with 28" essments so I would not need both drivers set to articulated on my layout ,but all plastic does.

Sure makes those freight cars seem positively small by comparison!

How well does it run on DC? Good steady low starting speed?

It runs great. I forgot to mention that it's a Kato model. All of my Japanese steam locos are Katos and I'm very happy with all od them.

RGW1, that weathering on the Mallets is great. Did you do that yourself? If so, how?

Airbrush, dual action gravity feed on the 2-8-8-2 ,however I first used a cheap $12 basic airbrush on the second engine 2-8-8-0 but it was poor and to go over it with the new Dual action airbrush.
It also helps when the camera is slightly out of focus.( not on purpose just a cheap camera )

Ah. Airbrushing. Best effects and highest price. Maybe I'll do get one eventually.

Got the airbrush online from Walmart ( they have alot) about $25 +free delivery Made a adapter and hook it up to my old 1/3 horse air compressor. I also use a water trap/regulator.

The compressor is something I don't have. That's the most expensive part.
