I don't think a 50's style backhoe is available, but if you took one of the modern ones and remove the ROPS stuff it will look just like a 50's style backhoe as they have not changed all that much since the 50's except for ROPS.

ROPS is Roll Over Protection Structure which is the cab and roll bar, none of the old construction equipment had any of that stuff. That was when men were men and so forth, and we did not wear hard hats etc. unless the safety man was around.

So many great shots this week. Grampy never ceases to thrill with the great angles and composition, that lit-up refinery looks wonderful and Candy with another mini-scene. And the discussion of that brings up a perpetual conversation at work: "Working hard?" "Nah, I've got a government job!"

Here's a shot I took a couple of years ago. The daily mixed is about to coast to a stop at Greenbrier, MO. That's back when it was a 4X8 layout!

I can still remember some really cool rides guys created from the old sedan delivery cars and panel trucks.

Great scene. That KFC makes me want some fried chicken, mashed potatoes and a biscuit.

Thanks. I felt it was typical of many old manufacturing buildings throughout New England. So it deserved a place of honor on the Saucier Central, a wholly owned subsidiary giving the Boston & Maine access to the Gulf of Mexico....or some such foolishness. ;)

Must be frustrating for that one truck, being stuck behind what appears to be an AMC Pacer...
