The N Scale convention is almost upon us, and I figured it would be fun to speculate a little:

From FVM, I'm looking for the announcement of the regular cab GP60s
53' trailers from somebody, possibly BLMA
A new engine from MicroTrains (Genset?)
New intermodal from Atlas, something appropriate for their new containers
More steam from BLI, something they already make in HO
    AC4400CWs from Intermountain
GP9Bs and GP9s from Athearn, maybe even the UP turbines (fingers crossed!)
    Acela Express from Kato
New cars from Trainworx, Exactrail, Bluford Shops and Wheels of Time

Hope to make next year's convention.

What kind of GP9? Maybe Phase III? Which has been lacking for decades....

I'd like to see more horn selections from BLMA

I doubt that MTL has a loco in the works....the SW1500 was a big project for them and it keeps them busy

I wonder what the market might be for more American prototype electrics? And I do believe I'd be sorely tempted to part with a bunch for a proper Texas class loco.

Doubt Athearn will do a GP9, esp being Atlas already does one.

I'd like to see Atlas do a GP50 or phase II GP39-2

I too would like to see an announcement from FVM for GP60 regular cabs. I'm just looking forward to seeing all the new stuff (since I'm going). Convinced my wife and daughter to turn it into a mini vacation up to Nor Cal.

Maybe someone will announce they are making water. I hear the state needs it.

Probably will be some test shots of the up and coming MTL items... at least...

(If there is anything I can use for the UMTRR... take pictures!)

Maybe folks should start taking water to swap meets and selling it there?

Uh... they do that now. Sometimes they have a vending machine to do it. $1.00 for a sixteen ounce bottle of water. Meanwhile the local Walmart has Coke and Pepsi on sale, $1.00 for a 2 liter bottle.

I'll bring some from TX, as I am attending the public show. They say our 35 trillion gallons of rain in May would have filled the CA reservoirs 3 times over, maybe more. And, we might get another 7" here in DFW in the next few days, more in Houston.

Look forward to seeing whatever they announce. No predictions, but it seems the economy is starting to rev up, so it should be a bit more than the last few years, even if derivatives and new paint.

True. Obviously so. But I was thinking (tongue in cheek) of the type of sale where someone puts it on their table, labels it as being rare and tags it at a ridiculous price.

Right now, you COULD put water on your table and label it as to being rare and you would be right!

I don't think that there will be anything earth shattering that will be announced at the show. I think that when a manufacturer is ready to produce something, they just do it and don't wait to announce it (just like the SW-1...they could have waited to announce it but didn't). At the same time, I wouldn't mind some gas turbines. Maybe Concor will do some (after announcing that they were doing them for the last 4 years...and are still due out according to their website in 'Late 2013' :cute:)

Aha, so it is a distribution problem not a supply problem.

How many people are expected to attend the convention?

I went when it was in San Diego and there was a healthy collectors market.

Now that the collectors market is much less, does this affect the attendance?
