What is the most Gaudy looking... yes, gaudy painted 1:1 DIESEL Locomotives you have seen in The UNITED STATES of AMERICA that one just has to have a N-SCALE model? Here are two examples I found. Do not include MEXICO, CANADA and all FOREIGN Railroads. Tom 1> 2>
I'll put this here because I like it, not because I think it's awful. http://www.rrpicturearchives.net/showPicture.aspx?id=1510237 And it's already been done: https://katousa.com/N/SD70ACe/176-8432.jpg Atlas has done the same scheme on the FM roadswitcher. Second runner up: http://www.nsdash9.com/images/NS1072jk1.jpg also already done: http://www.katousa.com/Zcart/index....D=1376&zenid=938f39ce9a767f0644674d12f2a4ed89
Going back in time, I thought some of the "Bicentennial" units were a bit awkward. Although it never happened, I did think about getting a couple.
Yeah, some of the bicentennials were really bad. I actually like those NS SD60e schemes. The SP GE Uboats in the popsicle scheme are pretty bad. Sorry, don't have a picture.
A lot have been done before, but I always thought the "Kodachrome" scheme for the SP-ATSF proposed merger would fit the definition of "gaudy."
Too good! Now I have no excuse any more! I'll really have to design an intermodal yard..... Seb N scale US trains
Read the post, I do like it! Not a big fan of candy apple green though. Let the IT fans beat on me, not KCS.
That's a good one. Yes. They really did stand out from any background, and were one heck of a direction change from the traditions of those two partners.
Not being anti-American in any way, shape, form, or manner. But these things are way overboard. http://media-cache-ec0.pinimg.com/736x/77/ae/c8/77aec829d53698df4d007dc286a54d12.jpg http://thecrhs.org/files/images/CR 7776.preview.JPG
Here comes BarstowRick with his two cents on the subject. Darn I wish he'd stay off this TrainBoard. LOL Yeah, I can hear you thinking out there. LOL It's true, I wouldn't model any of them or waste my time attempting to scratch-build or custom paint one. Still when they first came out it was such a welcome sight. Finally, diseasels that didn't all look the same. Something to look forward to should I be so lucky to be track side when one passed through. They were gaudy alright. Stuck out like a sore thumb.... but that was the point of painting them in patriotic colors. I think my favorite was the UP and WP designs. Loved them and also glad they didn't stick around very long.
here you go! http://espee.railfan.net/nonindex/daylight-diesel_photos/7030_sp-te704s-rob_sarberenyi.jpg
Yep that was gaudy. Uhh...err...how do I say this? That wasn't a bicentennial paint scheme. SP had something else in mind. This was a forerunner of the SP SF paint merger scheme. What eventually led to the SPSF Kodochrome paint scheme. True! I think these were what most clowns refered to as the popsicle paint schemes. Did I just say clowns? Uhh...errr...railfans...ok same difference. Grin!
