Thanks, guys! We're really excited and so far, Aberdeen has been great. Friendly people, affordable living and the kind of weather I love (inclement). Now I just have to make it out of training :startled:.
Great to hear that you're happy. I'm sure your training will be the Silver Lining to the inclement weather, best to you.
So far, so good! Made my first trip out from Aberdeen to Hettinger, ND and back (approximately 441 miles). My train out to Hettinger was grain (ES44AC - the cab was nice and quiet), my train back was coal (SD70ACe - the cab was not so quiet). The coal train was my first consist with distributed power (engine at the very rear of the train) which was interesting. The ride was long in both directions.. lots of ten mile-per-hour slow orders but I had a good mentor conductor and engineer, so the conversations were good. Hah, we'll see. We had to get out and throw a siding switch for an oncoming training next to a windy cow farm; next winter will be thick snow plus cow farts at the same switch.
Consider the CSX passing siding switches in the LA and MS swamps during a raging summer thunder-bumper with hungry alligators nearby....maybe cow farts in a blizzard won't be that bad. LOL
