One of the scheduled stops will be at the beautifully restored UP depot in Kelso, CA. If I still lived down there I would for sure try to photograph that stop.

I'm going to need to tell my sister to get a picture while it's in Vegas. My niece loves trains.

Sure hope the History channel or someone is documenting this whole thing.

A DVD of this entire process, from negotiatons to first post-restoration excursion, would probably sell very well!

Really, I was going to wait for it on Yermo Rd along the 15 and then try to beat it to Las Vegas, but if it’s going to stop at Kelso, then I may check it out there. Thanks for the info I’ve never been on that part of the tracks.

Johnny B, I'm not sure what the exit is marked off 15, but the road is Kelbaker Rd, and it goes south from Baker. I accessed it from 40. Anyway, here's the depot, which should make a great background for 4014.

Wow! I’ve worked in this area for 25 years and never even heard of this. I’m surprised that my buddy who was born and raised in the area never mentioned it seeing how he knows how much I like this stuff.

Anyway thanks for the photo, now I want to go there even more.

    About Kelso

Uhh, errr....by the way Johnny have you been out to Kelso, to see the newly restored train station. The grand lady of the desert as it was called by a friend of mine. I understand the sandwich's are pretty good.

You know you can catch it there and then beat it to Las Vegas, spend the night and enjoy the city and it's amenities. Then go home broke.

LOL, Hi Rick and thanks. I’ve been looking for an excuse to go to NV anyway. I plan on retiring at the end of the year and want to check some places out around Southern NV to live. I found some places on the internet that look good, but I have to see for myself.

I can only say, a way out of California would be welcomed by this TrainBoard participant.
