Made my engine lubritorium tonight. I'm working on the roundhouse right now. Both will be finished in brass and have windows and doors. I'm using balsa wood to make patterns.

After a string of painful events I've started work on the layout again. Santa reassure me I was getting switches for Christmas. I've got more mountains to build and of course all the scenery

Starting to look real good for sure. Quite the space for a coaling theme. Make sure you leave access to the tracks in the tunnel for cleaning and such.

Here's how I made the tunnels.

Got a few switches layed tonight. I need two more to complete the outer loop that will run through the coal facility and a pack of straight track. I'll need 4-6 more switches before I'm satisfied with the track. I had to modify the micro trains switches to line up like that. It required cutting an angle on the switches. Everything works perfectly.

Made a few changes to the layout. I moved a few switches and bridges around. Progress has been slow but it's starting to pick up again.

I wasn't satisfied with the way the crossover was layed out so I changed it up. I really like the new way and get to fully utilize the girder bridges. The inside track will be covered and be made into a mountain. The second inner loop will be open and the bridges cross over.

You'll have some real nice running scenes when it is done, but why not slow it down to a believable speed? I'm getting dizzy )

My transformer isn't z approved and that's as slow as they run. I ordered a MTL mrc 1300 modified for z but it hasn't arrived yet.

I'm going to try using plaster strips to make the mountain and tunnel for the outer lower loop.

Uh... What voltage range does it give? Not affraid to turn our tiny Z motors into smoke?

The tech 2 I believe puts out 16 volts. The other transformer puts out 19v. Before I roast the engines I thought I get a transformer.

It's going to be a cool layout when finished. But I agree your engines may be smoking before you get it done. i would put a voltmeter on your terminals and mark the spot on your throttle where is reaches 10 volts and stay below that point. You can also get one of the voltage dropping diodes to keep it in range.

Ive kept the voltage at the lowest setting operable. I should have the new transformer this week so I won't have to worry about it anymore. It's the mrc 1300 modified by MTL for z scale. I went to hobby lobby today and got some scenery supplies. I'm going to give the plaster cloth a try.

Running the azl gp38-2 around. This is a great running engine and pulls 16 coal cars around the inclines with ease. I'm almost ready to start painting.
