OK - except for one photo (of San Felipe desert module), these are not my modules, but they are my AC-12 pulling a mixed freight through the layout we had set up

Here's AC 12 #4285 on the Bridge of Wonder

I actually never counted how many cars I had attached, but the entire train was a bit over 9 feet in length

And then past the big rock wall through Nils' new 45 degree curve (really looks like we are climbing up into the Cascades)

I really like the way trees in photo foreground add depth to these views!

So glad I could meet you guys. It was an excellent venue. So that module is going to be dunsmuir. I can't wait. What a great location. We were wondering about it.

    Nice. Thanks, Rick!

I like that little "A" frame bridge just outside of San Felipe. Is that a prototype from somewhere on the SP or AT&SF?

    Ah, my first scratch-built structure!
I built it for some chainsaw switching layout when I first got back into the hobby about 5 years ago (using C80 rail):

I saved it in a box until last year, when I thought it'd fit fine on one of the many 45s we massed produced and split up for scenicking.
Popped of the C80 and threaded the C55 through: luckily it was the same curve!

I built it off of plans I found in an old Model Railroader (1995, I think).
Of course I can't find the issue now.

Can't remember the prototype used in the article, but I know the California Western ("The Skunk Train") had a few in the redwoods of north-western California:

    Was a fun project.
I used the same plan, making multiple copies, to build the Howe Truss bridge on my Mt. Coffin & Columbia River layout:

I learned from the first bridge to lay wax paper over the paper plan to prevent it from sticking to the wood itself!
I'm pretty sure I have the MR issue around somewhere.
Or if you have the CD-ROM collection I think the article was entitled "Build an A-Frame Bridge" or something exciting like that :)

Nice little bridge. I can see it would have appeal. Logging and narrow gaugers especially.

I still need to post links to my old TrainBoard albums, since all the photos links are broken.

The NTS is going to have a massive FreeMo-N layout, as a number of groups come together in Portland. After the NSE in Sacramento, needed to do some repairs on the station module, as well as MC's Effet yard, which now lives with me. With all these modules, and since one of the repairs was on the wye switch leading into the station, needed to run trains through. I had never had enough modules, before, to set up and actually run, but today, the garage became a FreeMoN layout, sort of.
