As I have tried to politely state, I was asked not to say where.
Why don't you wait and see.
DCC Compatible is NOT DCC Ready.

I figured that would be his answer, just like before when others have asked; "I can't say"

He reminds me of a little school kid; "I've got a secret I won't tell" :eek:hboy:

Personally I couldn't care less which way it's produced, let the chips fall where they may. If it comes DC, it might be a flop, if it comes DCC ready it'll be a winner.

I might get one if it isn't too hard to kitbash one into one of VIA Rail's SW1000's. But mainly I'm interested in buying the flexicoil trucks once they become available if I can get them as a separate part.

Nope just a man of my word to the person who told me. It used to be called RESPECT. Sorry you can't accept there are still some of us out here who don't tell all on Twitter and all these social medias.

Respect would be to not say anything at all if you can't tell the whole story.
What purpose does it serve to tell only a partial story?

We can have a whole thread of "This is what someone I know said someone told him but I can't say who or provide any evidence", the proof I'm waiting for is MTL themselves saying "The SW1500 will not use the same design of mechanism as the Walthers SW, it will be DCC ready and have front and rear headlights."

MTL's own Z scale locos are DCC ready so I'm not sure what they could be thinking if the SW1500 turns out not to be.

I would suggest that after this you not read any of my posts . Think and believe as you like.

So are we to believe your second hand knowledge, or others who are giving their sources at MT saying it will be DCC ready? As for me, I'm waiting until more word comes from MT before I invest in one...and I could use the BN one.

I agree. If I had not decided to add another era in my modeling this loco would not have raised my eyebrows. Now that I have decided to add early BN to my inventory it does. I have quite a few little switchers that except for the most recent Bmann additions don't have cab lights and I am just as happy. I run DC and not DCC so whether it has it or not doesn't blow my dress up either way. Everything today is split frame which is the first step toward DCC and most everything now has a circuit board and little LED lights which is yet another step closer. If I ever decide to go the DCC route at least I'll have something that can be converted. And if it has a dual mode decoder then everybody is going to be happy except for those few souls that don't like that decoder brand and will complain about that. Either way when it finally gets out where there is something of substance and not a proposal then I'll critique the model and not before. My long time experience with MT is that they rarely come out with anything that isn't well made and detailed. So when it does get here I expect a very nice little loco that runs great with great details.

I think its because some guys are getting word from their sources saying one thing, and Mike Fifer is saying he is getting word from MT saying the complete opposite. And with a new loco, people want as much info as possible before they invest their train dollars to a new loco.

BN 50 & 51 the twins in the Alliance NE yards for as long as I can recall. That is what I will do if I get a pair.

I'll be getting at least one no matter what (probably more if and when they release an SP version) for a few reasons. The SW1500 is my all-time favorite loco and I would get one even if it had a rubber band drive. Also, for me, a big part of the hobby are DIY projects/tinkering. I don't have DCC but would actually get a charge out of figuring out how to make it DCC compatible if it wasn't. I am actually looking forward to figuring out how to add a cab-end light if it indeed comes without one (I know...weird, right?).

However for many of us, we don't want to deal with removing weight from a small loco to add a chip and associated wiring. Look how many people don't have the SW1200 from Life-like/Walther's because of this. Its possible, but when you lose half the pulling power doing so, many would rather skip it.

If I was using DC and not DCC, the other headlight wouldn't be too difficult as its just an LED, and diode. Its not going to involve cutting up the frame halves and redoing stuff to make it work.

I put DCC in one LL SW then the Kato NW2 came out and I looked at my other six SW's and thought to H@#$ with this and bought more NW2's. Kato wins Walthers loses. I'm afraid if the SW1500 is not DCC ready so will MTL lose.

Has MT said anything about flexicoil release dates? Even a broad ETA would be nice to hear.
