    As promised......

    UP Water Tender1.png

The flag panels are a optional, and a separate part.

    UP Water Tender2.png

The ladders and light are separate parts, helps with painting. Plus you can fit a working light if you prefer.

My attempt at the side pump thingy-ma-bob.

    UP Water Tender4.png

Mt 1015 Body mount Couplings, the screw will need to be shortened but the frame is designed so the coupler box fits into it to aid with strength and not rely on the screw.

    UP Water Tender5.png

The underside is as the info we could find, better than nothing.

    UP Water Tender6.png

Here are the parts laid out for printing.

    UP Water Tender7.png

    And again from the underside.

    UP Water Tender8.png

    And some nice prospective shots.

Anything missing? Are we good to go?

When they go up for printing there will be three choices. Jim Adams with flag panels, Joe Jordan without flag pannels and both together.

Great, now I have 5 other projects that I am also getting printed this week (more about those later), 4 are now complete, I just need to finish some hand railings on the last one and we are good to go. It works out a lot cheaper to order everything together. I could release the water bottles now but I would feel better having seen a test print in-case something doesn't work, this is the first time I have done trucks and I would hate for you to get something that doesn't work.

For those that don't know the process, Shapeways do a basic check on my model when I upload it to the site, this checks for holes, overall size issues, bad model etc. If the model passes, which it has, it is then available to order. Once I order the print, Shapeways take payment then do an in depth check, this looks at minimum wall thickness, drain holes and general print ability of the model. Should the model fail, they refund my money and send me a screen shot showing the problem. I can then fix and re order. The prints you will be able to order won’t have this issue as I would have already done a test print and gone through this, hopefully it will go strait though. I will keep you updated on the progress.

Once I receive the test print I will clean it up, and assembly it. If all is good I will make them available on Shapeways. I will try and do this as quickly as possible. I know these are the last part of Marks UP Excursion Train! :)

Well, that's it. Test prints ordered. Lets hope the model goes through the checking possess ok. Assuming it does, Shapeways will let me know and give me a date of production and delivery, I will keep you posted!

Well, finally, after 5 rejections from Shapeways, mostly due to thinks like wall thickness on ladders being to small, and the two lamps being to small on there own with out being on a sprew, the model has gone to the printer. They expect to turn it around in about 7 working days. I will wait until I have seen it and tested it before making them available, just in case but the end is close!

    Drum role please..............

Here are the first shots out of the box.

    IMAG1008.jpg

I also printed the next version of my Yosemite Log Car, a new atlas pilot that takes a Microtrains Z coupling and can you guess what the big fella at the back is?

    IMAG1011.jpg

The ladders, two curved for the rounded end.

    IMAG1014.jpg

A Side view, can you see the pipe detail along the frame?

    IMAG1015.jpg IMAG1017.jpg

    Some shots.

    IMAG1019.jpg

    The Trucks.

    IMAG1020.jpg

The flag plate, tool boxes, lamps and bolster pins.

    IMAG1046.jpg IMAG1047.jpg

Here are two shots showing the parts after a soak in worm soapy water. They are now in an old jab jar full of Goo Gone to get rid of the waxy residue. Tomorrow I will post some more picks.

I think they are ok and almost ready to make available, everything fits well except the trucks which are a little snug on the wheels, but that is an easy fix.

    Hows it look to you?

I have both a challenger and a big boy. I have several different roads passenger cars from C & O, Rio Grande, UP, NYC, SP, and many others. For running HEP for the cars I have a dummy B unit in SF colors. I call it my foamer express. ;) I have a baggage car, diner, several coaches, and sleepers. a couple different observation cars as well. When I get a decoder in my cab forward it will be neat to see that pull the train as well. That is if the old AHM rivarossi can be run on my layout. Not sure yet. I will be using HO code 83.
