I wish, as mine would be fixed as well. But to my knowledge, nothing was done.

Rick, what browser are you using? My version of IE10 (10.0.9200.16521) does not have a "Settings" Menu tab, nor is Settings listed in any of the Drop-Down Menus.

BTW, the Enter Key response has not changed for me unless I use F12 Developer Tools and select IE9 Browser Mode, so I doubt if the TB crew have done anything.

    Hank-

What he has described are the personal user settings here on TrainBoard. These are separate from our browsers.

Well, I'll be darned. I guess this Old Fogey can still learn something from you young Whippersnappers after all....:startled:

HEY EVERYBODY, Rick's Fix WORKS !!!!

At least for the Enter Key, though now I've lost access to a few other editing features, such as Center Justification, etc.

Oh Well, sometimes you get the Bear, and sometimes the Bear gets you....:crying:

    What setting(s) did you choose?

Standard. I was using WYSIWYG, but that's the one that wasn't recognizing the IE10 Enter Key coding. Though I'll keep trying occasionally to see if MS or vB has changed.
EDIT - Ken, I returned Settings to WYSIWYG to test if the ENTER KEY decoding would remain after being set up in Standard, but No Joy. :(

    LOL, GOOD! FOR NOW!

It was the "WYSIWYG" I used originally that seem to be the faulty program.

I'm no young whippersnapper just a few years behind you. Still thanks for the compliment. I like to fiddle until something farts and it works. I also suspect there is something wrong with the "WYSIWYG" program... which will require changes. We shall see what happens next.

Glad it works. I love it when something comes together.

Rick, from reading various MS and vB forums, it's a vB issue that's been known since IE10 was released last Fall. At first, it was thought to only affect XP users, but now it appears that all MS Operating Systems from XP through WIN8 are affected after installing IE10. Unfortunately, this problem appears to affect only a few vB customers, TB being one. So it's low on vB's maintenance priority list.

    Hytec,

    Makes sense to me.

I have Windows7 and having had some earlier versions (my favorite being XP Professional) it seems it's never without some glitch in the system.

    Glad to see it working.

Yes. It is a software issue, which the developer will eventually need to address.

Meanwhile, I am happy to still have my older computers with XP, to fall back on when the newer one with W8 springs another surprise headache...

    That's for sure.

Slightly off topic. My XP, PC made by HP, took a suicide dive off the layout and that was the end of that. No, I have locomotives that do that. With the PC, it just started shutting down and at first it was on the hour every hour, with the time frame getting shorter and shorter, until it died. This despite the PC cleaners, anti-virus, spyware, re-configuration programs I ran and/ or other attempts by a friend...who repairs PC's. It wasn't fixable.

Now I have a product made by ACER, and I won't be buying another one. Too long a story for here and now.

So, is everybody back on track here?

Ummm. Back on track? Well, maybe the RIP track. Ha ha.

BTW- I am on my newer PC, with W8/IE10. The Enter key is functioning now. I am afraid we will be having this same conversation, over and over again, as MS forces more PC users to their latest blunder.

LOL....."RIP track". This retired mortician hears something else. "Dead Line" sound familiar.

Yep, we are stuck with the blunders....taking place...in all products, events and happenings around us.

Still COL (Chuckling Out Loud). Good one!

Rick, Sorry to hear about your ACER problem(s), but I'm not surprised. ACER is the resurrected Gateway Company. Several years ago Gateway had so many major problems, predominately technical, that their reputation went down the tubes. As a result, Gateway closed up shop, at least publically, and very quietly re-emerged as ACER, which caught most of the industry watchers by surprise. I've been out of the loop for too long to be able to give you any advice, but I hope you can have your problems resolved satisfactorily, and soon.

Ken, are you still using WYSIWYG, or have you switched to Standard? If WYSIWYG, I'd like to know what you have done to make the Enter Key work, because Standard limits posting functionality.
    Thanks, Hank

    Hank-

Are you meaning that Standard does not work for you? Or just lamenting the loss of Full WYSIWYG?

Much to long a story....but....they won't stand behind their product and/or make repairs. I get to pay for it all... A new PC will be ordered out after this one is paid for. Sigh!

Regarding the original problem, if we can get everyone to turnout (switch it is called a switch) to "Standard" then the problem is solved.:uhoh:

Rick, my cousin had a Gateway that was marginal out of the store, then became worse, but never completely failing. She was able to finally get a full refund after about 90 days because she had documented everything to Gateway Headquarters with successive letters from the beginning. She began her documentation immediately after she had taken the computer back to the Gateway store where she had bought it, where they said that it was not their problem, call Tech Support. This may not help you, but it will show that you did everything possible to get a resolution from your end.
