I suspect that something in Trainboard has been hacked. In the last couple of hours, I have received direct email from 2 members with some strange link inside the email. I deleted both emails. Trainboard is the only place I have seen these two names. Anyone else seen this today?

I have not received any emails that fit your description.

Why would you think it is from Trainboard? Have you corresponded with either of these two names in the past?

Strange, I just received a ton of failure notices on my Yahoo email, but nothing appears to be in my sent folder.

I received an email from you with a link. Since we have emailed in the past, it did not go to the spam folder. From the looks of it, I would say you have a virus.

Not an N Scale topic so moved to Support Forum. To be honest, I am not sure what is being said here.

If someone thinks they received an e-mail from TrainBoard, please forward the e-mail including the header (copy and paste) using the contact us link at the bottom of the page.

    Thanks,

    Charlie

One of these emails was from Daniel Leavitt.

I have never had any email contact with either person I got an email from.

I also received this email, and also have corresponded with Daniel offline so I don't think this is necessarily TrainBoard related but rather Daniel's yahoo email address book was compromised. This happened to me a few years back, and pretty much everyone I ever emailed got spammed. Daniel if you haven't already done so I'd change your password to yahoo right away. It will probably run its course and not erupt again, but it's a good precaution. As well, if you have other accounts on yahoo, I'd recommend changing them, too...

My password has been changed. It looks like I may have picked up somthing on my new laptop while watching The Walking Dead on a non-official site.

Not only did they send emails to everyone on my address book, but everyone I ever emailed since 2004. It looks like some bot went through each email and pulled every email address listed. That includes everything that was CCed to me. It could easilly have been 5000 email addresses.

I don't even know how many sites I have passwords stored on that can be accessed through that email. What a mess.

I am really embarrased and sorry for this.

This sounds like another case of a Yahoo email password being hacked, stolen via trojan horse, clicking on a bad link, etc. Best step to take is immediately changing the Yahoo password. Make it a GARBLE. Make it an odd number of characters, something more than ten. Use numbers, punctuation marks, upper and lower case letters. And I repeat, make it a GARBLE.

My bet is that your Yahoo! Mail list of Contacts has been hacked. This has happened to me before. Changing my Yahoo! password fixed the problem. Change it to something as long and complicated as you can. Use the first letters of a memorable phrase that can include a digit and cap or two , like "sBd6whwsc" from "She'll be driving six white horses when she comes…"

(Wish I could figure out crazy "Reply with Quote" function.)

Bet you didn't expect your laptop to be turned into a 'Zombie':startled:

All joking aside; regardless of what Anti-Virus software you are using, as NO Anti-Virus software is 100% effective, I strongly recommend you download MalwareBytes Free and run a full sweep to make sure your system is clean.

It is a widespread hack of yahoo email accounts. I have only had one from a contact, he has now changed his password, but not aware my account has been hacked.

Some time ago I changed my ymail password to a really complicated one, including special characters, caps and numbers - all of which mean something to me, so hope I don't need to make and remember another!

A friend of mine that's in the Security Business has told me that a long password is more secure than a complex password, that is, a 20 character password that is letters only takes much longer to 'hack' than an 8 character password with caps and small letters, numbers and special characters.

So, I guess a long complex password would be even better than that!

That's what I use. It's a totally meaningless garble, so there's no pattern to possibly be discerned.

High security systems require users to change their passwords periodically. If you need additional security add an extra character/digit somewhere (but NOT the end) in your good 8 character password and cycle it every year/month/... And do NOT talk/write/... about your particular password or approach!!!
