Cable ties - good move! (We will have to visit that trader when we are over to see what other bargains he has - he lives not too far from you). Sent from my Nexus 7 using Tapatalk 4
How long till this little boy is helping me run the South Lewistown? This is what we have to watch every morning when we get up, he does mot want children's tv... Sent from my Xperia Z using Tapatalk 2
How do you like the look of the Peco track vs. Atlas code 83. Is the HO Peco like the N-Scale stuff which looks more European than American or does it do a better job of resembling the American Prototype?
Matthew, I'm enjoying watching the progress on your layout. Keep it up! The photo of your son reminds me of my oldest son. He picked up his love of trains from me. In fact, he convinced me it was time to start volunteering on the Sumpter Valley Railroad, which is only 50 miles away (just next door, around here!). I think he'd rather watch a good train video than anything else! Patrick
The peco code 83 is American track, the code 100 and 75 are European. I have a small section of code 75 so I will take a photo of them together Sent from my Xperia Z using Tapatalk 2
I took these two little locos out for a run today, they have been static for many years and were a bit jerky in operation. But a good clean and regrease with this and they were both smooth and quiet. Sent from my Xperia Z using Tapatalk 2
Great to see one of my original Andersley Western locomotives in use after several years dormant Sent from my Nexus 7 using Tapatalk 4
I got fed up of seeing wood in all of my close-up photos so I got a couple of tester pots and got to work on a temporary backscean. Sent from my Xperia Z using Tapatalk 2
Looking great. I know how you feel. Now that I finally got the last of the hard shell put in, I can order some back drops. Tires of looking at paneling.
Noticed that in all the trackage, it's laid directly to the layout w/o benefit of roadbed. Is this deliberate, or will you be coming back later to put in cork or foam roadbed?
Nope I won't be adding a roadbed, the trackage will essentially be track in mud, there will be the odd patch of ancient ballast on the main line but most will be gone. Sent from my Xperia Z using Tapatalk 2
I agree with no roadbed. I do use Homabed on the main line, but always bring the track level down to the surface for any industrial trackage. First off, without roadbed, all of the loading docks and platforms are at the correct height for any freight cars, and there isn't a large height difference for any grade crossings. If you look at any industrial trackage, the rails are at street level, not elevated.
