Haven't posted in a while, as I haven't had a lot of free time to model, only getting a half hour here and there. I have been focusing on the Field yard side of the layout. Been leveling out the terrain with track level using Geno Sharpe's method of using foam core board. I find this method perfect as most of the yard in Field is compacted dirt and gravel with minimal paving. The foam board will allow for dips and pot holes and other natural formations. I am also working on a small Hill or bluff along the back drop to keep Field more prototypical.
Just read all 11 pages! Great stuff! Enjoyed reading and viewing all the progress. Looking forward to the rest of the journey! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Peter- I still love what you're doing with this layout. Keep the steady progress going, you'll get there. No rush!
New update video on my layout up on my YouTube channel. Comments, feedback and suggestions welcomed and much appreciated. In this instalment, I am focusing on the Field BC side of the layout. What happened to the RailBox car, missing at least one truck? Saving money sounds good to me. I'm certainly interested in your next series!
It's a messed up box car I got at a train show for 2 dollars. Used one of the trucks to clear the track flanges on my crossing. Boxcab I am glad you will find the series useful. One of the reasons I am filming it, to pass on what ever I can knowledge wise to anyone that will find it helpful.
I'm always looking for good ideas. We never know where the right bit of information, and the right moment will meet.
Your layout is so far Peter !! Great building and design work. I subscribe to your channel. I'm looking forward to see the uddates of this awesome layout.
Worked on the layout some more. Sanded down my yard and started working on my depot platform. Also started working slowly on my backdrop. Here is an overall shot.
The backdrop painting looks sweet Peter! You'll just have to be careful, and mask that off when you add landscape textures. I've had to go back and repaint my fascia several times now from the overspray of adding landscape textures. Keep it up!
