Painted the walls with a color called Gentle Sky from HD. Next step is completion of installing the pink foam.
I don't have the paint chip anymore but the label on the can shows UL230-15 (it's a Behr Premium color).
Looking good Charles! You've made some great progress. I've mostly been reorganizing and cleaning up the "train room", and also procured a desk to use as a workbench since having a good place to work has been a challenge. Not sure I'll achieve my goals by next weekend, but I'm gonna keep working and see what happens.
Thanks Doug. You know you have until the 10th. My main goal was getting the benchwork done and maybe, maybe get some track laid. I don't think I'll get any track down but hopefully the last of the foam will be done by that time.
Keep up the good work guys! I finally got my layout moved into the new room last night. With the layout now accessible from three of the four sides, I hope more work can be accomplished.
I got the box sides, front and back built for the back of my On30 RailTruck. The piece included for the roof doesn't look quite right to me so I am puzzling over that. It has to be something I can curve, and that will glue down to wood. I also got the wiring sorted out on the log-dump module and I made some real progress on my retaining wall on that module last night. I did not have a camera at home but I will try to get pictures here soon.
Major Setback with Project I posted this under my thread in N Scale Forum but will repost it here also. Major setback with this project and I am at a loss right now what happened. I noticed that an area of the foam was lifting up. Before any conclusions are reached, yes I did remove the plastic film from both sides. I used Liquid Nails for Projects as I have done for years. I could lift the foam up with my little finger and it separated. You could see the evidence that the Liquid Nails had reacted with the foam. The Liquid Nails that remained on the plywood was still wet to the touch and this is after seven days since the first layer. I have never had Liquid Nails for Projects react like this over the years I have used it with foamboard. So now I am in a deconstructing stage. At the same time it has caused me to rethink the track plan and/or the benchwork. As I am dismantling the top it is evident that there are some reach issues. All this that has happened may be a "silver lining". At least that's what I'm telling myself so as not to invent some new words.
I have had this problem (though mine was due to using wood for my joists that warped) and I took a rasp to it and simply smoothed the areas that needed to be back down at their original height back down, following up with a shop vac. You may want to consider this.
So... accomplishments... I have fixed up the wiring on the log dump module and devised a very low-tech way of not having the wires catch on things in the future, namely I took out the slack on the main bus wires and put some wire retention clips mid-way through their span, and I also put in a velcro system for keeping the pig-tails from getting damaged and ripped up. The horizontal pieces of the wood retaining wall have been assembled and received a few coatings of wood stain. The jury is still out on whether I will get the vertical posts together in time for the show. We'll see. I also got the wiring, decoder, and speaker for my On30 railtruck into place and put the new back on. I was going to devise another roof but seeing as how the show is in two days I just went ahead and threw the stock roof piece on for now, and I can change it out later when I come up with something better. No sense letting the perfect become the enemy of the good. Tonight I do whatever just absolutely needs to happen to the other module and I pack things up because I am leaving for the UNW show tomorrow. I will get photos at the show.

After being sidetracked as usual, finally demolishing the train room *sniff*. In all of my years, I've never seen walls framed like this. The entire wall is held in place with 5 concrete nails fastened to the short uprights halfway up the wall. and I really think my stud sensor had gone out to lunch when it started giving me wacky results. Goal today is to get it 100% cleared out and prepped for tomorrow's adventure to re-frame the walls and run some new circuits. Not that fun getting 4x8 sheets of anything down to the basement in this house, but it can be done with a little patience and swearing. Anyone in Toronto wanna come help? I have beer!
Your stud sensor may have been confused by all that concrete close by, or rebar inside the concrete depending on how sensitive it is.
My End of Party Update As the layout party came to its close, I think I can say that I met my goal despite my "foam fiasco". The benchwork is built although I have removed one leg for now due to a possible move in August. I had stated that I maybe would like to get some track laid but not to be due to the aforementioned problem. Overall it was a success and I enjoyed following some of the other members and their progress. First layer of new foam down.
So, how did I do? Well, I did take two operational modules to the UNW show in Monroe, WA. To my points. I did fix outstanding track issues, and while I got the switchstands working better I have determined that they are not good choices for this type of thing, so I will be replacing them with these custom built switch-stands another member of our club builds. He has offered to build two for me, and they have proven to be very effective at shows, so I am going to buy them. I did improve the scenery, mainly by starting the retaining wall and filling in more of the bits of benchwork still showing. I still need buildings and ballast and more layers of scenery. I did not get the rolling stock ready to go, mainly because our group has not settled on a coupler height standard and I don't want to do one and then have to rip it apart to do another. I DID get my rail-truck back built and get it going, and it performed like a champ all last weekend. Here is another photo of the rail-truck... Here is a video another group member made of our setup.
