SP Lark Gray ScaleCoat2!!! It is a little lighter than handrails on new SP SD45's. Maybe also try UP Harbor Mist Gray
MRL, your right, it's not Reefer Gray, it was SP Lark Gray that I was thinking of. I was told that Harbor Mist is a little light and the other [SP Lark] was just about right. However, if you weather them, either should work just fine depending on the amount of weathering. Thanks for the corrections!
Given variations from the camera and monitor. I would say that is dead on the money Mark!!! Much better than the LifeLike gray. Now if you weather them, like I will be doing, then I don't think a shade or two difference will cause much problems as they'll look more black than anything. But I do like the look of the Dark Lark.
I've got an InterMountain FT set on the way as well as a pair of GP38-2's arriving Wednesday I can't wait to show! Those Atlas suckers were hard to find!
Other than the one shown by Marty Coil, I don't believe we've seen much in the way of cabooses. What are folks doing to re-create those unique cars the RI owned?
Ah HA! So your the thief!!! or winner..... LOL!!! I found those for a buddy of mine who has been looking for some. Actually not sure if he bid on them or not, or if you outbid him. Either way Congratulations, and yes they are hard to find!
Just the usual suspects over here (Athearn, Micro-Trains and Atlas) - I'm also looking forward to the new Bluford Shops short-body transfer caboose. -Mark
I wasn't sure if I was going to bid on them until my fiance saw the opportunity to buy one as an early Christmas present. Then of course I had to have the other as a compliment, so blame her for this loss!! Nice so far! What GP long hood is that from?
Gotta like that! If you're gonna get one, might as well get two. At least the price was right. Talked to my friend, said he had the time incorrect and missed the auctions.
I've built 3 RI 'hacks' includuing one outside braced caboose #17832. All are built from a STANDARD offset cupola caboose.....sanded and scribed, new windows, cupola replacement and brass grabs. I use photos as a guild
I'd be lost without them. Hell, it took me three tries (and thus three shells) to get that one right. If every manufacturer had Atlas's seemingly never-ending (not to mention cheap... not to mention easy to order) supply of parts I'd be a very happy camper indeed. -Mark
Finished up this guy last night - Anybody know if the RS-2M's ever got this paint scheme? I really lucked out when I mixed up the red and I'd hate to see it go to waste. Thanks, -Mark
I see Atlas just announced a new run of Rock Island U25B's in the 70's red/yellow scheme. Sweet! -Mark
