    Hey Tom-

I knew what you'd written as soon as I saw the new posts list. Well, it's from the ------------------. Oops. Can't tell anyone, yet.

24 more to get to 75. BTW, I am not holding off on telling you what it is just for fun. We are still working with MT on details. When finalized, I will say what it is. I would love to get to 75 before then.

I'm more interested in the era. If I can't run it in '51, I don't care what state it came from or it's in...

I'll probably want one, but am in a bit of a cash crunch at the moment. When are the $$ due?

All I needed to know about the car was that this site and many of the people whom I've communicated with for over these five years were involved. SO to me the era, type, or even the road don't matter. All of you matter and I want it for the memory of you all; and those of us that were here.

Re: TrainBoard Special Run Pre-Announcement Announcement

I think the build date was 1950s but I will have to get back on that later.

We'll get you a statement on the era later today (I think).

We're a little bogged down at 51 folks. Let's keep them coming over the weekend and hopefully the first of the week we will be able to tell what this is... as soon as we finalize with MT.

I think you folks will like this boxcar which belonged to a railroad that was merged into the _______________ and later the _________________.

UPDATE: We are still at 51 cars. As you might have read, we would like to get to 75 pre-orders before we announce what the car is. That's not unrealistic based on how great you folks are. Every time we have done anything over the years that involves money, you folks pile on to help and that is so impressive. When you think about it, where else do you see people ordering model railroad cars without even knowing what they are getting? I'll be the first to admit that I would have to think twice myself before doing that! But, to support something that I believe in, like many of you, I would do that. And, I really hope that someday that you folks that are ordering will be able to say, "I have all of the TrainBoard special run cars!" I want to do this about twice per year if possible. I think we have some great ideas even beyond this car (which most likely would have been seen near one of the cities still alive in this year's Major League Baseball post-season).

So, why are we not announcing what it is? We are still working with Micro-Trains to finalize the details of the car. There are not enough photos of the car to help us get some of the information about it we need but we are working on it. All of the pricing is now final with them and we are collecting orders to get closer to the goal. When it is announced, we will obviously get some outside orders from people that visit Micro-Trains website and the N Scale Enthusiast website. There are people out there that collect special runs that probably don't frequent TrainBoard that will buy one, and then there are people that collect from the parent railroad of this car that will buy.

Another exciting thing is that one of our members who has asked to remain anonymous, would like to buy 10 cars - not for himself but for something that we will tell you about later. These cars are not yet added to the total but if you are a purchaser, you could get another one free!

Hopefully the first of this week, we will finalize with MT and then tell you what the car will be. I'm really excited about this and I think many of you will be too.

Soooooo. Some people will like the parent road.

So that means you decided to go with a prototype car? Hmmmmm.

Well, I would have preferred that it said "Trainboard" on the side. Also, based on the dates listed, sounds like it might have a roofwalk (out of my time frame). Hope it is their new box with prototypical ride height. I have quit buying MT's that are not the right height. Having said this, I have already placed my order (and would have regardless of what it was) as I'm happy to support Trainboard, which I do annually with a contribution.

Folks, here is an important announcement: One of our excellent members, who at this time wishes to remain anonymous, has purchased 10 cars. Note the jump from 53 to 63 in the total at the top of each page.

This member stated that he gets so much enjoyment from TrainBoard that he wishes to give something back and he wants to offer 10 people the chance to get a free car. Obviously, you could do what you wished with the car; weather it, give it to a friend, donate it to some organization, whatever you wanted to do.

So, every car purchased has been/will be assigned a number (beginning with 1) and at some point to be determined (in conversations with our donor) we will draw 10 random numbers and those 10 people will receive an extra car free when their order ships.

No cutoff date has been established for this but we will determine (with our donor) at what point the numbers will be drawn. So, hopefully this will encourage a few more of you to purchase.

This purchase of 10 cars also brings us much closer to our 75 car goal before we announce what the car is!

Also, although this donor wishes to (at this time) remain anonymous, I think it would be nice if some folks that like this act of generosity, to say
THANK YOU so that he will know that this means a lot to all of us!

I'll throw my hat into the ring and say THANK YOU, to the generous donor. It's good to see people getting behind this thing without knowing whether this car will even fit their era/region. It's even better to see someone getting behind it simply to support the board and encourage others to do so.
