The OP&E is still alive in Oregon and still maintains and holds the Oregon Trademarks for the "Blue Goose" and the "Flying Goose" logo. There has been a number of stories in a lot of publications talking about the "Blue Goose" steam train. The Oregon Trademark laws are still in the books and active. OP&E has not given anyone permission to use or talk about the "Blue Goose" or show its logo when refering to railroad operations in Oregon.
OP&E is an active company, operating a radio station, also runs a contract operation for for a 24" gauge railroad just South of Roseburg, another under construction. OP&E manages the distribution of HO & N scale models that bear the OP&E image & logo, OP&E also holds the copyright to a "Bob Hope USO Show" thats now funding our operations. OP&E is also working on the purchase of a Standard Gauge operation and hopes the paperwork will be done by this fall. As you see this is not a paper operation and OP&E will protect is Oregon's trademarks.
As you have noted this in a couple of posts now, it seems to read as though you have had some significant troubles?
It has been a rough road, but operations have picked up. OP&E will be operational as a Standard Gauge, have 24" gauge park operations, Communications and video.
Bob ... is it alright if I still display the YW's logo, which also has the 'flying blue goose'? The YW is still for sale! The way things are going over there, Court may be motivated to deal!
Dear Ironhorseman You can use the YW & OP&E flying goose logo for non commercial use. You can contact me directly about this matter anytime.
Thanks Bob. I have no plans for any sort of commercial use. I have an old OP&E watch fob that has the logo. Found it on E-bay several years ago.
The Oregon Pacific and Eastern in Cottage Grove is gone. All the tracks have been taken up allthe way to Culp Creek. The engine house in Cottage Grove was torn down a few years ago. The OP&E was a great little railroad. I rode the steam train about four times too.
