I am working on a new layout in a spare bedroom. It is about 10'X6' and depicts the Columbia River Gorge. The focus is the Wishram area and hills separate that portion from the other side which is staging/Vancouver/Pasco. There is also a reverse loop to turn trains around. I am starting on the scenery and have most of the hills in as well as the frame work for the tunnel east of the Wishram yard. I am using an NCE PowerCab with a booster and I have hooked up a MRC sound box. Here are a couple of pics. John
Great! Myself I would also appreciate a trackplan, featuring minimum curve radii (these seem rather broad, am I wrong?), type of track and turnouts (looks like Rokuhan, isn't it?). Dom
Thanks guys. I don't have a track plan - just kind of winging it. The Wishram yard is based on the prototype but condensed and the rest is based on space and features I wanted in the plan. The track is MTL roadbed, the curve radius for the Wishram yard is 13 degrees (490mm) and the other curves are 195 and 220. I had to use some MTL flex in the yards. I plan to add more siding for industies. John
John, its so good to see you back to modeling! Excellent plan, and a great location to model. Nice work, just pleeeeese don't ask Loren for any trees!
Looks like a fantastic layout you have going there John! Really looking forward to seeing it progress. -Chris
It's not that I wouldn't make you some, but it might be a while before I could. Buried up to my arm pits in projects....and none of them are model train related (
Off topic... could you guys find any larger smilies? These things are bigger than most Z scale freight cars. Do we honestly need such enormous faces in our post? Come on, guys there are hundreds of sets to choose from, so why pick the ones for the visually handicapped?
Here are some pictures taken from a higher view to better show the track plan. However, it is a work in progress.
Thanks for the additional pictures. The view shows all the track plan perfectly. Nice plan and looks like some great switching options. Um, I didn't check. DC or DCC?
John, Wow! Well done! I wish I had such room to build a large runner layout like you have. I'm looking forward to seeing your progress. Keep up the great work! Yours, John Bartolotto
