anyone want one of these? I think some people have said there that Intermountain would be the best people to do this given what they offer already. so vote up and we can show this as a petition to IM that a good handful of people want this done in any available road name/number. thanks! heres hoping for a SDP45!! see this thread http://www.trainboard.com/grapevine/...064#post836064
While I model BN, all of them were retired before my era, now an SDP40...those I could use However BN 6599 would be cool with the 4 axle radial truck
I primarily model Milwaukee road in the 40's and 50's, but I also model MRL, and they had one SDP45 (and one SDP40), so I'd take an undecorated version.
I know, I got one in the to do project list...just if someone else comes out with one first, means one less loco I need to do Also his rank is Lt Col, there is no Lt Maj
intermountain got back to me and said that they are forwarding the idea onto their design team for review and consideration! at least theres some glimmer of hope!
I can see IM doing this model as delivered. So like the tunnel motors the just change the noses. I would pick up a pair of SP's and a pair of GN/BN units.
the 'poll' is slanted...there is no inclusion of an 'absolutely not' vote...especially if it would take manufacturing costs (all inclusive) away from other projects... sincerely, Bruce
How ut And SDP45?? The Golden State Railroad is looking to upgrade its motive powerand has a bunch of EMD F'3/ and F7's as well FM C-liners to trade for both types.
unless you are the manufacturer, i dont think the absolutely not would even matter if dealing with costs. let the inside men/women of the manufacturer asses their costs
I'd venture to say...you've chosen to respond to a very limited aspect of my statement... which was................ the 'poll' is slanted... there exists, within this 'poll'...only a 'yes'...and a 'yes...but not right now' answer'... as I said 'slanted' toward a value of yes.... there is no allowance for a 'no'... ....which is my vote.... Sincerely, Bruce
i got you from the get go. maybe im narrowminded but perhaps someone can convince me how a "no" would be in any way productive if the number of "yes's" reaches a threshold that meets profitability. if 30 units allows a company to be profit 200%, and 30 vote yes, and 30 people vote no, the no vote really does nothing.
The poll is not interested in your no vote, the purpose of the pole is to see how many people on this fourm would be interested in purchasing a SDP45.
What a stupid poll. It is like ''Would you want an SDP45 or would you want an SDP45?'' My answer is also no. Especially if it takes away production time away from something that more people want. I don't think any manufacturer wants to make such a product that is limited to a small segment of prospected buyers. They are in the business to make money, not to please Mr. Iwantasdp45 and lose money.
Like I mentioned in the other tread, whoever would do them would have to make 2 seperate long hoods and 2 seperate types of sidesill/railing configurations. Another plus about doing the mechanism is that maybe the mfg could make the SD40A also, as it shares the same wheelbase, as well as the SD45X, which has HTC trucks. Trevor D.
