anyone know where i can get one of these? so rare nowadays. this is what i get for starting the hobby "late" haha.
im sure these will go for a pretty penny huh. DC. but i suppose it cant hurt to hope for a good price.
What are your intentions? Building a specific train? Just curious. I will see if I can find my DC board and check prices. Look for a PM in the next day or so. The next three days are dedicated to the GTE at Anaheim. The DCC board is generic for many Atlas locos so it will find a home.
yup im a big fan of the san francisco to san jose commute line here now operated by caltrain. ive got wheels of time cars (and concor cars) and even their 60ft harriman as a substitute until someone relases a 70ft passenger version but i need the loco to complete the look! hoping for a good soul out there that will make this complete hehe. thanks john! good luck at the GTE! by the way someone by the name of john emailed me also from the yard sale at yahoo, is that you? oh how i wish i was born back then to see this! http://www.railpictures.net/viewphoto.php?id=183748&nseq=16 however i suppose a GP9 would be a easier and cheaper find nowadays http://www.railpictures.net/viewphoto.php?id=224242&nseq=29
Gotta keep an eye on ebay, but you will have competition, these are hard to find. Oh, and I will be competition!:mtongue:
yup been watching even everyday like a hawk day and night lol. what i want to hear now is that atlas is announcing a rerun of these!
Try here: http://www.texnrails.com/catalog/ca...63608&cat=L&mfg=ATL&itype=Trainmaster&scale=N http://www.texnrails.com/catalog/details.asp?sid=LA90032921363608&mfg=ATL&item=49551&cat=L&series= They show stock
site looks pretty shady. expired security certificates. have you ordered there before (a yes or no is good, dont wanna break forums rules haha)
I got a Trainmaster from them and didnt have any problems. (Of course I got it from them at a Train show! LOL) Good people to deal with though, seriously.
I also won a Brass Trainmaster on EBay. It was custom painted and they painted over the contacts so it is in 'not running' condition right now. The Atlas is actually better looking then the brass one.
haha cant wait to see your pics. i want to see that brass one too. pics wont show that it doesnt run lol. right now i only have 3x WoT recent release bilevels and 3x concor bilevels with cab car so nothing really worth taking pics of. i wish i had hopped onto this hobby earlier as i really want those original striped two tone bilevels WoT released a long time ago! this detailed in this page that i found on google http://www.trainweb.org/fredatsf/commute.htm did GP9s ever pull these SF-SJ commutes? please say no so i dont have to break the bank for more locos lol.
Yes, GP9's did pull the commutes, so break the bank! LOL I would go with the torpedo tank GP9s with the red embloms on both ends.
When I was growing up in the Bay Area in the 70/80s, I can remember Trainmasters, GP9's, SD9's, SDP40's, GP40P-2s and some Alcos on the commuters. Very cool operation back then. http://www.railpictures.net/viewphoto.php?id=97158&nseq=25
I got the Trainmasters, but didn't get the WoT bilevels. "Nah, what for?" I said at the time. Sometimes I want to kick myself! As a longtime SP modeler in N, I'll give you a little advice: When you see it, buy it. Preorder when possible. SP is a very popular road, it doesn't sit on the shelf long.
YES preorder that is why i preordered the current release of the Wot cars. That was a lesson learned after not doing it for previous stuff!! sucks for us SP fanboys, got many people in the fanclub wanting the same stuff! and boy oh boy thats alot of locos that pulled the commutes!! that means lots of $$$. wallet is crying. GP9 TT looks sexy though, i might just have to get that too
