Yeah, I was trying to think of a way to make them round, but after seeing Rich's post and how me made them square, all the clouds cleared and the sun shown brightly that day! LOL
A, to make them round you could use various sizes of dowels. Could even use PVC pipe. I wonder if you could buy a cheap plastic funnel set, then chop off the part you need to make the cone for the collection bins. Ya never know!! Wyatt
That's the part that had me a bit baffled, the cones. But the small funnels would work OK if you find some that small. Good idea Wyatt, thanks! The other thing was getting the legs and stands to come out even. That's where the square blocks shined for me. Easy Peasy, not a lot brain power needed there! LOL I'll have to play around with a couple round ones for another wood industry I'll have. Sometimes I make things too hard for myself. :headspin:
Try checking the 99 cent tool bin at hardware stores, etc. Last year I found a set of four or five funnels (ACE Hardware) in there, the smallest was just perfect for model RR paint uses, etc.

Well... if you find a small funnel, fill up the hole on the bottom, put a short section of PVC ABS or stryene pipe in the top for the silo, then get it set to where it will be vertical and pour in plaster. Let it harden and take out the silo and spout. I can't take credit for the idea, John Briggs did this for a plastics plant he built in MR years back. But it looked really good and no seams between the tube and spout.

LOL! If you can run across I wouldn't mind seeing it, no rush though. Interesting for sure Boxcab, not a bad idea George, it's definitely an idea for other things such as building details and the like. And free is always good! Now that the sites back up and running I'll get the latest updates posted.
Well I finally got a chance to use the LEGOs [which is what started this whole project!] and finished off the collectors last night. After I got the appropriate pieces glued together and glued to the tops of the collectors, I got some paint squirted on them. They look a little funky with all the different colors, but once the first coat of Oxide Red was down they started to take shape. After the Silver got put down they really came to life.
