I model modern era CSX, so when i'm running locomotives with late 80's early 90's paint schemes I will also run a caboose.
Wow, an almost 14 year old thread...impressive! I model turn-of-the-century BNSF, so generally no cabooses, but they're still used on a few locals as "shoving platforms" so I'll have a couple hanging around.
Bummer, I thought that was a GN caboose and was hoping it was N scale. I guess I need to learn 3d modeling and try shapeways.
I don't have a definite railroad yet but I am thinking about maybe altering history a little bit. Like taking the BNSF mainline and instead of what it is today I would be building a modern Great Northern Railway. This is mostly a what if kinda thing taking modern equipment and pre big merger companies, and mashing them both together. So Yes it will use cabooses both wood and steel. In my world the railroad regulations are nonexistant.
I model the Western Pacific, so yep, cabs on every train. I love cabeese (cabooses?), so I'd have to have them.
I may blow all of this modeling details & eras out of the water, but I don't care if it's era correct or not. I will run a caboose/cabeeses as I see fit. I don't care if it's in this era, the last era, or the early 1900's. If I want to watch a caboose run around my track, so be it. Basically, it my railroad, I'll do as I want to! LOL
All of the MP trains on the Hoxie Sub are assigned caboose's before leaving the NLR or Bald Knob staging.
American Model Builders makes this as a laser cut wood kit in N scale. It's still available at the place I buy my "woo woo woo". Maybe other places as well.
