I just drove over Donner Pass on Sunday. Be on the look out for MOW crews as you approach the Nevada state line. Ben

Going Eastbound: American River is on the right side (watch for westbound zephyr meet) Donner Pass - left Truckee River - left and right (probably more dominant to the right) Ruby Valley - right (I think) Glenwood - left (watch for westbound meet) Gore - Right Denver tunnel district - Left Basically it's a toss up. Just go hang out in the lounge car and pick the side with the fewest available seats.
An SUV and four yellow vests just pulled up. Three got out and climbed into the loco and the truck left. Conductor says we're just waiting for mow crew to clear ahead.
Musical chairs in Reno. I went from a nice and quiet and smooth center car to the very front of another coach where I van enjoy the direct vibrations from the suspension and the foot traffic between cars. Bleh. At least I have more leg room I guess. Conductor just announced we'll be stopping in Sparks,NV to cut off the private car.
Finally under way again. I think were about an hour late by now?Shouldn't have a problem making it up overnight.Hey we also just passed another westbound. And I counted TWO private cars on their end!
Be thankful you are not sitting right atop a flat wheel. Listening to that machine gun effect for 15-16 hours..... Yikes.
Actually, I've been there. it definitely gets old, quick. I think it was on my last ride-along even. I think I'd rather have an annoying noise rather than this jolting and jarring of the suspension overhang. At least I could dround the noise with headphones.
Also, having a drink with no tray table and all this swaying is no fun. Usually I enjoy drinking my drinks, not wearing them!
While getting more ice, I overheard the conductor talking about fires and smoke we may be going through. Anyone know of any fires threatening Nevada-Utah?
We're stopped again and the announcement said there is a non-emergency medical concern they would rather be safe than sorry about. The guy behind me immediately reacts with. "awww efff". Sheesh. A person's health at risk and all some people care about is the amount of time it's going to cost them.
