another loco for Alex, that's it for this month, now others have to get their orders first... ;)
Main features of this kitbach are complete revised tank and air tank arrangement, the area around is now see-through! Detailed front pilot on long hood (was still the long hood forward policy at CN at the time), winterization hatch, fine, etched fans, big, single headlight and the decals. What's so special with those decals? A) the colour and B) extrem fine black lines frameing the pale yellow background. Nerv-wreaking...

Another fabulous kitbash. Alex must have gotten the picture from the Diesel Era magazine I send him.

I just hatched a grand plan to acquire a fine collection of beautifully bashed locos........I'm going to treat Alex real nice in the hopes he will adopt me as his favorite son. Then when he decides to pass on, maybe he will put in his will that I get his collection.

That's the only way I could ever afford to acquire these beauties that Gerd makes for Alex.

I know these must cost a lot of money so I'm beginning to wonder what Alex does late at night down in his basement cellar. I'll bet he runs his own printing press where he makes all sorts of neat looking bills........hmmmmmmm.........

Take good care of those locos dad!)

Loren... Don't spend too much time wondering. There is no such thing as basement cellars in Japan. And... there is no room for a printing press in a 30-square meter apartment.

I apologize, Loren... you are going to have to come up with a better plan. I already have two fur-kidZ... and, you don't look much like a French Bulldog.

First off Gerd, fantastic! I don't get tired of seeing your stuff, it is awsome!

2nd, Alex, you will have to post a few photo's of your collection of locomotives. You may not have the most, but I must say yours must be the best and most unique quality out there! I admire your taste and willingness to spend on quality. What is great is that your wants and Gerd's talent, is what shows the manufactures, and everyone else what can be done. To me that is inspiring. :D

I may not look like one, but Karin says I often should sleep in the dog house.........does that count?

Ummm... no. I'm not going to argue with your boss about where you need to be sleeping. Does she smack your nose with a rolled up newspaper when you've been a bad boy?

No, she doesn't smack me, but she does move my newspaper so I have to be retrained............you know.

I imagine Gerd is very appreciative of the job security you give him with your custom work orders. Maybe you should just invite him to live in your guest house and set him up a little shop where he can turn and burn all day long for you. I'll bet you can teach him to like rice )

    Garth,

it's the olive and mustard scheme used when those locos were delivered in the '50.

Hi Gerd I have never seen those shades of green and yellow. The markings are spot on an beautiful. everything I have is a much darker green and a bright yellow and I have been trying to find a picture of an engine in these colours. all my own pictures of the period are black and white so they do not help.

    thanks for the answer Garth

Now this is a dandy piece of kit. I love the lines and extended light housings on this engine. Damn I wish I had the cash available. I'd buy it from you Alex. I'm still saving up money so you can do some custom repaints on some GP9's, 35's and F7's. Perhaps in a year or two.

Uh... not for sale. On the other hand... I have plenty of AZL rolling-stock (Bethgon coalporters, 3-bay ACF hoppers, PS2-cd hoppers) to sell.

    Garth,

this is not showing a new engine, this one is faded and worn; they are are some pics in a Diesel Era magazine. You are right, new ones are quiet dark olive and the yellow is much brighter.
I guess I have to do some pictures outside with daylight, the real thing looks a bit different to those pix done under a fluroscent lamp.

No thanks. Got all the freight cars I can use right now. Just looking for specific engines in the colours I want that AZL and MTL don't want to produce.
