Hit "Reply to Thread" and the Quick Reply comes up. I guess I am not getting what is missing here. TrainKid, do you talk to everyone this way when you have a problem?
The quick reply is grayed out to preserve message ordering in vB3. In vB4 they just remove it to keep people from trying to use it without clicking. You MUST click on quick reply which forces it to order the posts logically. I don't have it turned on on the board I admin, because I really couldn't care less about preserving post order, but on a site this large where you might actually want to do data mining, it makes sense. So, it is working as intended and really shouldn't be changed. I will say that the biggest thing that took getting used to in vB4 is that "Reply to Thread" now is 1 click for quick reply, 2 clicks for the full WYSIWYG editor. Anyway, I think I like the new Trainboard more than the vB3 trainboard in terms of look and feel and I don't just mean because of the vB4 features. I just think it looks slick. Good job guys.
Are you talking about the Reply To Thread where everything comes up? If so, I've noticed if you hit Go Advanced, you'll get what use to come up when you replied to a thread.
I like it too. I don’t know if I was imaging it or what but I thought it was the same color as all the other sites at first because I usually have 2 or 3 forums up at the same time and I was having trouble identifying which one I was on. Then I noticed that Trainboard had some color which was great.
You can say that again. I have gotten confused and posted the wrong reply with the wrong thread :membarrassed:, but sometimes you just have to cover all the bases.

This option has always been available in the past. It's identical to attachments, just under a different name/interface. Honestly, I don't care for it at all. I do like the option to attach instead of embed (attaching uploads the image directly to the post, embedding "floats" the image in the post referencing the location from the third-party host), however I think embed should be selected by default as that is used far more often than attachments. Embedding is necessary for posting images which are already online from RailImages, TB Albums, Photobucket, Flicker, ect. My preferred way of posting images is to choose "From URL" and DE-SELECT "Retrieve remote file and reference locally". Then past the URL and done.
Yep, once an image has a URL, it can be embedded almost anywhere, this is why I prefer embedding over attaching. I use Photobucket (temporarily until RailImages image size is upgraded), so all my photos are under a Photobucket URL. Attaching them to a post will be redundant and waste resources since the image is already stored somewhere online. And I can also keep my online images organized in one place. Instead of having them stored in hundreds of different posts, all over the place, they are stored in one central place, and merely referenced to those hundreds of different posts.
Mark, I just want to be able to post a picture quickly without having to upload to a service. Some photos are just to help support an explanation and are not worth adding to an album. Also, is there a way to add the photo in a larger size to the post rather than using the attachment method, but without using a host like Photo Bucket?
Yep, I do that too some times (quite infrequently though), which is why I'm glad attachments are available as an alternative option. The answer to the other question is no. You can either attach via upload directly to that post which defaults to a thumbnail size, or embed having uploaded to the third-party (RailImages, TB Albums, Photobucket.. ect). Once you attach, viewers can click on that attachment to view full size. And if you wish, you can even view full size, right click > copy image location. Then go back and edit your post to embed that URL. But, if you're going to do that, I would ask, why not use the third party host which keeps all your images organized in that one place? It also allows those images to spread across much wider audiences (viewers of the post, and viewers of the third-party sites).
