This weeks topic chosen by Keith, last week's challenge winner. The winner of this week's challenge gets to pick the topic for next week! Show us a wooden trestle! New photos are highly encouraged. One photo per member. "Times up" will be posted next Monday so don't wait until the last minute. After the "times up" I'll post the poll for everyone on TrainBoard to choose their favorite image.
And since I chose subject, I am NOT allowed to participate! Mark, better double check date(s)?? March 20??
Mark, if new photos are encouraged, are old ones acceptable? It's not like everyone has access to wood trestles every day. Just askin'. :tb-confused:
Sure are. Yeah, not many trestles are still in service, but many converted hiking trails have the wooden trestle still standing. Back in Nebraska I've often seen timber "trestles" crossing a small creek or ditch.

There are still short ones over small creeks and such. Here is a photo I took today showing the Sunset Route Mainline in Sugar Land. UP keeps it well maintained. Here is another shot from down under the trestle. Not quite as nice as under the boardwalk.
Nice, interesting photos! But, come on folks, lets see a few more entries! I would, but Two things: 1. I'm disqualafied this week. 2. Left knee problems. Can hardly walk right now! Even worse, not sure what I did. And yeah, this is also the same leg as the blood clot 2 1/2 years ago! So, I'm keeping fingers crossed!
Buxton, Oregon This is the old United Railways (SP&S) trestle at Buxton from my recent trip to the area. (Camera is a wide-angle pinhole camera with Kodak 125 Plus-X film.)
Looks like I'm OUT of future contests for quite some time! Dr visit today, becuase of severe knee pain, in bad knee, says I probably tore the Miniscus tendon! Can barely walk! Just not sure how bad things are.
Keith, you really need to consider giving up rugby once and for all. The sport is very hard on your knees.
Rails to Trails, MILW-Style This short trestle south of Morel, MT once supported the mighty Little Joes and Boxcab electrics of the Milwaukee Road. Now, it just hosts a hiking trail:
Eight very cool entries this week! This one's going to be tough. Poll is posted! The winner gets to decide next week's topic!
