    Rob.

I have sent several questions to Z Track asking for clarification on a couple of products that you sell, but to date, I have received no response. Why?

Rob I was sending them to Z track center and it was regarding the lighted crossbuck signals from Bernd Bauer. Specifically, they are listed as a lighted pair of crossbucks for 75.50, and then another pair of lighted crossbucks with ELECTRONICS for 86.00. What's the difference between them? In the expanded picture both look to have all the wiring, unless there is something that isn't shown in the second pair.

Ken, John is right on. The electronic version came with the module that allows the unit to flash. The last shipment that I had come in all had the electronics. I am sold out of these, but can special order them.

Rob-- Still don't know when subscription expires. And don't really understand last comment. A lot of peiodicals have exp date on mailing address-- I know this was asked before but I guess it was dropped. All of a sudden we get a card in the mail stating the end is near. You have my email address if you want to inform me of date.. My question was more for all the subscribers who may do multuple years. I must be missing something.
    Fred :)
PS- how is one to know if one is eligible for your tree promotion.

OK. Thanks. I understand now. It's the pictures on the website are misleading as all show wiring coming from the bottom. I take it then that these come with complete instructions on how to hook them up and also triggering mechanisms? Are them compatible with North American Z? For my layout, I'm anticpating I'll need 5 sets over the next 6 years. Too bad they don't have operating gates.

    Thanks

    HI.
This is getting into the weeds a bit so perhaps it should be moved to a different thread?
I have a set of the crossing signals and the electronic box that makes them work..
You can get 2 different kinds of electronics box, one that makes the lights go of and on, and another that kind of fades the lights off and on. I probably got the wrong one and should have the ones that fade, as I am doing the 50s and the fade effects simulates lightbulbs and not the modern LEDS.

North American? Do you mean U.S., Canadian, or Mexican? I have not a clue how they signal trains up in Canada, but these signals are good for US railroads. Not all US railroads have gates. The gates that are made by Herr Bauer are European,I do not know if anything like those gates were also used somewhere in Canada or the US.

I was surprised to find some pictures at the US Archives of these types of railroad signals being used way back in the 1930's. The picture showed them mounted in the middle of the road, but, still, these types were around even then.

Now about the model signals, they come with 2 grey and one yellow wire each. These are connected to the 6 outputs on the control box, that comes seperately. The control box has a warning that says they should only be used with those signals.

The signals themselves, I assume, could be used with a different controller, and there are several on the market. The signals need either 9-14 V AC or 7-12 V DC.

So to sum it up you will need the signals, a control box,(either the ones made for the signals or a different one of your choice, with the volatage output given above) and if you want them to go on automatically, you will have to find the electronic parts to make it work. The other choice would be to get the lights only, and find a total signaling system that senses the trains, activates the signals, makes a bell ring, and perhaps, if and when sombody makes a NA crossing gate, to make it work.

Thanks for the info. I was refering to US and Canada as they are the same in both countries. I didn't know they had railroads in Mexico. I thought they still used donkeys. (Just poking a little fun) In any case, from what you describe, it sounds all too complicated to me. Perhaps I just stick with the non-functioning kind. Like the saying goes, "Keep it simple, stupid."

Fred, your last issue is May/June 2012. Yes, we send out renewal notices typically 6 weeks before your last issue. We then send out a expiration card six weeks after your subscription expires. We don't plan on printing the expiration date on the envelopes. We prefer to reach out to subscribers once their subscription is due to expire.

The tree offer is only valid to new subscribers and those whose subscriptions expired 9 months ago (or longer). Our goal is to increase subscriptions with this offer.

By the way, if you are not a subscriber, then this is THE time! Free trees and at least one year of Ztrack. Why not??? The deals won't get any better!!!! We have already had quite a few folks take us up on this offer. Don't miss out!!!
