Russel, I'm really enjoying this, thanks.

BTW, your accommodations look fantastic, http://www.phcp.com/warren.htm#. I don't know how you and your wife can stand it....:tb-cool:

I'm happy to see that #500 is your power. Have you noticed any difference in train handling, acceleration, etc., with #500 than with P40s and P42s? I hope Amtrak releases information of #500's characteristics, e.g. fuel economy, maintenance, and handling vs. their "normal" locos.

The 500 was on the Heartland Flyer so don't know about how it performs.

Russell, I agree that 500 was assigned originally to the Heartland Flyer, but one of your photos from the Ft Worth stop showed 500 on the point.....?

At the very left side of that image, it appears there is another Amtrak train at the station. Maybe the trains had a meet at the station. :)

Traveling cross country on a private open ended dome car like that is something I definitely want to do myself one day. Looks like you're having tons of fun! :)

There were three trains there. Both the north bound and southbound Eagles and the Heartland Flyer._

Had dinner. Then it started to rain so we abandoned the back platform. Not quite to Arkansas.

We ran along the Mississippi river for a few miles a while back but are now in the suburbs somewhere south of St Louis. Kind of a cloudy wet morning so far.
