Ok, so here's the deal. I have a Spectrum 2-8-0 that my kid got her little toddler hands on and the connecting rod from the piston was disconnected. There seems to be some kind of locking washer that I am missing but there would be no way I could ever find it in the carpet. Would it be best to just send it back to Bachmann to get looked over and fixed or would it be fixable without that washer? Maybe our friend from the SD&AE can help? :tb-biggrin:
Send it back to Bachmann, They have a decent warranty. I think you need to send them $15.00 and they in turn will repair and ship it back to you.
Ditto on sending it back to the Bmann requesting a repair. If you are missing a part they would have it.
Cool. That's what I thought but I figured I would check here to see if you guys might have had an idea or knew of a better solution. Thanks guys!!
Darn, you need that washer. I've had this happen to me as well. What I do on all my Bachmann 2-8-0's is use a drop of superglue to hold the washer to the little pin that it is connected to, while being careful to allow it to slide freely in the crosshead. You cound send it back to bachmann, OR... you could get 2-8-0 replacement parts from their online parts catalog.
Ummmmmmm...actually...if its under warranty...you dont need to send no $$$ (see only/if in red below)...I didnt send any $$$ ! :tb-wink: From Bachmann emails: To return your loco ( tender) in for repair send to Bachmann Inds. 1400 E. Oh well. I didn't keep my receipts. Guess I'll have to pay the $15 if I ever need to. I guess that doesn't really matter since mine are all older than a year, so I would owe them the cash anyway.
