Ouch! Glad no one was hurt. Looks like it could have been a real bad one.

Hope the cause is just something minor. Glad everyone is OK.

Glad everyone is OK, but The guy in the clip was talking about it was their prettiest engine, now it is their "pretty scratched" engine... Shawn

Odd how it just fell over-no big boulder, no undermined roadbed. That Alco has a low center of gravity to fall over like that-speed a factor maybe? I don't know, just guessin'. She's a clean loco though, L&N. Glad everyone walked away.

There's a bit of a height difference from the road to the track, at least a foot from the looks of things. Once it's off the track stability goes out the window, especially once it starts meeting resistance from ties, ballast or snaging rail with it. From what I've read that was the trailing engine, another was pulling the train from the other end.

Not saying this is what happened but, imagine. That unit being pulled backwards, the truck on the locomotives front derails, turns the truck to pitch it toward the road and down that little embankment the front end goes. The tilt and the drag/resistance from that would probably be enough to tip it over.

Ya' that could do it with the right conditions. Sad to see her on her side like that.
