I am and this is the first real picture I have of my consist. I run an A-B-B set of F-3's in the Western Pacific leg of the trip. Btw this is the first pic of my half done layout. All Unitrack , still have lots to do.
http://zephyrproject.com/ www.wplives.org Real world Zephyr Currently under restoration, from my last trip to the WP Museum in Portola CA CB&Q 4717 Silver Lodge, CB&Q 4720 Silver Rifle Dome coaches. Also on the property;WP 832 Silver Hostel Dome Longe and WP 841 Silver Plate Dining car FP7A 805A Spent part of the day running my Kato Zephyr the other day. I have the IMR FP7A 804A and the Kato F3A/B 802A/B plus both RDC2s 375, 376 Zephyrettes. But nno pictures:thumbs_down:
Hmmmm... let's see... California Zephyr... Calzephyr... nah... I don't see a connection here. Nice photo of the CZ model on the WP leg. Personally... I like the D&RGW leg of the trip the most.
I'm a closet CalZeph fan - have been ever since I read a series about the train in RMC in the early 1970s. If Kato keeps re-running them, I just might have to get a set. Mark
It's easier to just add the link: An Amtrak special "Mini-Zephyr" from October using some restored equipment. http://wplives.org/cgi-bin/yabb2/YaBB.pl?num=1256879344 The pictures are about half way through the thread but well worth scrolling for it.
I have a Kato Cali Zephyr set with an A-B-B set of Kato WP F3s that I love. I have a A-B set of Kato D&RGW PAs in Aspen gold on order for it. I also have an A-B-B-A set of Life-Like D&RGW PAs in the as delivered black and Grande Gold for my Zephyr. What I need is for Intermountain to re-issue WP FP7s and F7Bs for another set of locos for my Zephyr, too!
My only b---- about the Katos is I can't run both of the F3s with the FP7A on point. If I run them that way the center unit is thrown from the tracks from the speed differences. I'm sure if I got another Kato F3 or F7 B unit it would do the same thing. Since I'm headed towards modeling the late 60s the F3s would not be running anymore so I need to find som F7Bs too.
Nice pictures! I'm an HO modeler so I have the BLI CZ cars along with Athearn Genesis F3ABBA set and F7/9ABBA set depending on time frame. The F3's were out of service by Jan 1966 so the F7's and F9's take over from there. I do have a Stewart F3ABB set to hand the CZ off to in SLC, but really need to pick up an Athearn Genesis FP7A.
Beautiful shot dieselfan! The Burlington Route CZ lives on my fathers layout. It appears I've never taken a photo of it though. It makes an appearance in this video from the past August Video Challenge though.
Good thing I have a few CB&Q F3 ABA consists in order to bring it into Chicago. Otherwise y'all would be stuck in Denver.
Did I see that right? Did they have a DOME OBSERVATION car on that real train? Where can I find one?!?!?
Yup, the Zephyr was called a "Domeliner" for a reason, five domes including the Observation and Lounge. Con Cor makes a corrigated Dome Observation and woo woo woo has a bunch in different schemes.
Or, if you're lucky, you can find a Kato CZ somewhere. I think they're on their fourth release now? I have one (first release) and it's a really nice train. I do have a few C-C CZ cars, but I might swing for another Kato version if I can.
And one! I have one Kato series one set, and Intermountain FP7 and F7B for power. I am thinking about an F3A-B set to pull a second Kato set in the future. What I'd really like is kato to do a WP Run of the NW-2 in order to switch the CZ cars! Does anyone have a N Scale version of the Oakland terminal I can use?
