Thought I'd post my weekend modeling work.

I recently picked up six 100 ton hoppers that were hauled by the Milw during the late 1970s. They were SP hoppers that moved copper concentrate from Airzona to Montana. Anyhow got to getting some decals on one of these undec units.

These undec models were made by Bruce's Train Shop, I think a custom run. Anyhow they weren't perfect models as some of the sides of the car and ladders came out are bent, nevertheless they make for great used beat up units. After decals I hope to weather them up too.

Nevermind the cute dog toys in the background. LOL.

They are nice looking cars. I think they are available in H0 scale. Sure would be nice to see them more widely available in N scale. Very good job on the decals.

BTW, where did you get those decals? Thanks.

    Hey Greg,
If you are planning on keeping all six cars together you can save decaling time by just putting ECT. on all the other five cars.

Thanks for all the comments guys.

Flash, the decals are Microscale 60-1214. I really only need to the top half of the decal sheet, so not sure what I'm going to do with the rest, as I probably won’t be modeling too many more SP Hopper cars.

I'm actually modeling these cars after six cars seen behind a Milw train in a photo I have, so have to fumble around with individual digits from the decal sheet in a six digit car number.

Hmmm. This is an interesting realization. Does seem to fit the mid-late 1970's appearances of many cars I recall.
