If I had the cash I'd be up for streamlined anything. In particular I'd love 4-6-4s like Con Cor did way back when.
Don't tell me how good Santa Fe modelers have it for steam. The only correct Santa Fe steam we have, as opposed to slapping 'Santa Fe' on a USRA tender, are Bachmann's questionable quality 4-8-4 and Walthers 2-8-8-2's that were used only as Raton Pass helpers for a few short years during WW2, that's two locomotives, well one really, unless you model Raton Pass during the last years of WW2. We need 2-10-2's, 2-8-2's, 4-6-2's, 4-6-4's, 2-8-0's, 2-6-2's, 4-4-2's,...... The same applies to UP, as I've said before, you can't run the UP with just Big Boys and Challengers. Most railroads are in the same boat when it comes to steam, especially the bigger roads that designed and sometimes even built their own. That's why, although I'd love to model Santa Fe in the steam era, all my steam belongs to my freelance Westfalen & Gulf so I can at least run some USRA types.
No one could be happier than I am, that Jason choose ATSF 3771 as Tomball Locomotive Works Engine #1. Have been in the hobby for over 50 years, and no addition to my roster has made me as proud as that engine. Of course, 3772 is number two. Thanks again Superturbine, Robert
Its a Bachmann EM-1, which has the correct cross head, drivers and very close wheel base. Oh, and the EM-1 might just be the best running n scale steam engine made.

Simply unbelievable. Cant get enough detail shoved onto this beauty! I am digging all of the weathering effect and the quality of details! It just simply beyond than well done! I bet this gal ran like a champ around the layout, does it?

Ooops, I keep forgetting about the trailing truck (these small engine). But the fact remains that once you have a 4-4-2 mech done a 4-4-0 is just a matter of a hack saw. Many of the same procedures will be used. I am ordering the supplied for that engine today. - to start the boiler.
