Thanks, and you are correct Randgust is doing this project in N scale. The frame fitting would appear to not be an issue. The GP7 Atlas frame will mate well with this project. I'm in on that one also. I model Eastcoast in HO and Amtrak is all over the Eastcoast. The CF7 will be part of a MOW Yard along with another GP7 a Pumpkin if you will.
First Decoder Install First decoder install is underway. The engine in the back ground is a similar unit with a decoder already installed. I am using that one for a pattern.
I have an Atlas/Kato/Roco RS-11 going into Santa Fe as soon as I get home, not very proto but it sounds cool In addition I have 2 Atlas GP38-2's and an athearn RTR GP38-2 going into Santa Fe as well. Possibly a Santa Fe GP15 as well but don't count on it.
Mopman neat looking baler you made there; can't wait to see the finished model. Me I finally got to the Lunde Studio kit I had for awhile now. Still have to weather it but at least I got it built. There are some really interesting projects here within.
I like the height of it, subwayaz. I've been working on a road bridge on the new layout. Carved it from foam, still trying to work out how to represent the stonework. Mike

I replaced the step plate on my Atlas GP38. This one is fixed in place, but it is better than not having one. The braces are not square, but I didn't notice that until I took the picture. I also noticed that a grab on the top of the short hood was missing. I replaced that with brass wire, as yet unpainted. There is a lot of detail on these models that requires careful handling.
Well here is the finished product. I wrapped up the project last weekend. Now it's time to start something else.

Thanks Flash. The "water" is the patio table but the wife told me it's off limits for use on the layout. LOL It does remind me of pics I have seen of automobiles sitting on a body of water.
On the workbench (well desk) right now is a CSX SD40-2 starting out from an Athearn BB model. A lot still has to be done : pilots, some roof detailing, see-trough steps, ditch lights, etc.
All these! First on the list are these 4 C44-9Ws that feature Athearn shells & Kato chassis. A very fun project indeed. The shells will also be upgraded with Details West parts. The air tanks, truck details, high ditch lights (3 units), front & rear handrail and stanchions (similar to ac4400CW on 3 units), roof details etc. Yes I have my work cut out for me. As for the chassis, I have all the chassis in hand. They all have been modified so that the shells fit comfortably. All 4 units will be fitted with Tsunami Sound decoders.
Really nice detail on the fuel tank. I'm not sure I would even know what goes there. Detailing an Athearn BB is a really big job. They can be very nice and comparable to much more expensive engines. This is a really good one.
Hi, This is a first post from an old guy who is just a beginner and who doesn't even have a layout yet. So whatever is on my workbench is just simple low skill stuff... but I'm working to improve my skills and enjoying every minute of it. Just assembled this 25 year old Walther crane kit... Greg
