Finally got to the stage of applying the four stripe scheme on the SP&S heavyweights and started doing the roadnames and other decals. Still need to get trucks and diaphragms on some cars. And yes they did have a double ender business car in the way back time. Liked it even though it was gone by my era so modeler's license. It received steel sheathing and a new underframe and a extended life on my version of the railroad.

And go figure I ran out of stripes, have enough to do one more car. So more are on order along with some REA express decals and some GN decals for the MT heavyweight cars I now have.

Here is what I have been doing lately. This is the Atlas Middlesex building that I have angled to fit a space near my T Leary Chemical plant. There are A LOT of windows to do. I added the roof detail and cover on the entrance. The dock is scratch built. I still need to paint the dock and front steps as well as a few people and a base.

My new MT cannery kit. Which I hope to start later this coming week. Right now I am researching typical paint on these buildings, from about fifty to sixty years ago.

Express reefers. Adding couplers and weathering. You see my entire collection. My work surface is safety glass from a locomotive, plenty heavy.

I have always used Pullman Green for the power and the cars. Some have a black roof and some have a green roof which reflects the cars in my color photos. Seems to be that about 30% of the cars had the black roof. A few of my cars have the Builder paint where I do use the darker Builder green for them. Getting ready in maybe a month or so to do both of the baggage dormitory cars and I dread those Builder color bands and stripes I'm going to have to put on car 75.

    S FA's 864 and 208

Jost finished 2 FA's in the SP&S 'broad Stripe' Scheme. This was the last style with wxception to a couple of demonstrations for the FA's. Though some ran mileage as BN, to my knowledge, NONE ever recieved BN green DSCF2212.jpg

From my sources the only covered wagons to get BN paint were the four F7s and they served in rotary plow service for awhile as power units and in a red livery if I remember right. BN then ended up power short and they were pulled back into revenue service and repainted into BN.

Fifer: That is a great building! I like all the extra details and the weathering. I see you added the cover on the loading dock, too.

Did you make up the name and the signs? Thanks.

I installed a TCS Z2 decoder on the chassis of a TRIX 2-10-0. I modified the chassis to accept a Rivarossi boiler shell that lines up the steam pipes for the exhaust from the cylinders with the smoke stack.

I've never seen a picture of one of these Train Cat models chlorine cars built up . Not an easy build but it is a unique car. You can see another one started in the back ground on the pic. I've been slowly working on these, I got a bunch more of Mr. Knight's cars to build, should be fun !!

A few rapid prototype models to clean up and paint.

First up, the Eastern Seaboard Models White Tower stand alone restaurant, after cleaning in Bestine (heptane) to remove the wax residue that is used to help support the RP casting as it comes together:

The a two-fer - Stony Smith's resized to N scale Railkind trackmobile and Round Mountain Models MOW truck body. These are from Shapeways, and have yet to be cleaned:

For reasons only a chemist would love, the castings are clear with the wax and opaque after it gets removed. Hopefully I'll have some painted pics tomorrow.

Finished lettering, striping, numbering from a equipment diagram book, and adding diaphragms plus MT couplers to all the cars. I'm fairly happy with the way that the heavyweight mail/baggage came out in the end. Have a crew dorm to build yet, and two diners, plus three Burlington cars awaiting decals. Then there are about 10 cars left to get MTs and diaphragms and I think I'm done with all the old stuff and the upgrades or repairs.
