I believe it was an old Plastruct kit. It was an all styrene kit. There is a water tower in Poteet Texas very similar to this (except full size). Poteet Texas. Thanks.
Thank you Tracy for detailing your weathering technique. I use washes ( paintbrush or airbrush ) for all my structures. I use pastel chalks on some rolling stock. Fifer: That elevator is quite impressive. Are all the details on the silos roof included with the kit or did you superdetailed it? Midniteflyer1: Well done, nice brick color on the Ridgeway Paint Company building. I'm looking for some chainlink fence, yours looks very good. Is it from a commercial kit or scratchbuilt. gpa: Nice version of merchant's row II. I have it too ( see page 11 of this thread ) so it's interesting to see the work of other fellow modellers with that structure. I call that structure the "village idiot" because every village has an idiot and it looks like almost any layout has a merchant's row II structure. Jacques
Thanks , it is pretty much like about it with the exception of the lightning rods and steps and grateings. Thanks, Mike
Northern Light & Power The outdoor transformer came from an old Con-Cor substation kit. And, there are some splotches of glue on the wall that really show up in this photo...I need to fix those!
Thank you Mike ( Fifer ) and Midniteflyer1 for taking some of your valuable time to reply and supply additional information. Midniteflyer1 thanks for the link to Gold Medal I for sure will order their chainlink quite soon. Steve ( Fishplate ) that Northern Light & Power is a masterpiece. I am ( was after seeing your work ) reluctant to do some brickwork in N scale because at 1/160 the mortar generally lines look too thick. Could you please detail how you did the mortar lines ? Jacques
Jacques, Please see this post for a brief description of how I did the mortar lines. This method was described in RMC many years ago.
Thank you Steve for the link to the mortar lines thread. I'll run a test on some wall section of Walthers modular . Jacques
