My CP Rail D&H division

That rack conversion turned out really well Jan. I'm sure it was a lot of work, but no doubt satisfying once it's done.

In the last shot, is that a 5-unit 40' chop job? If so, I'd forgotten that you had done that. It's definitely on my to-do list too.

Hi Gary, thanks for the compliment and yes, that is a Walthers 40' chop job I did on a 5-unit articulated wellcar set, that one was a lot of work!!

and here is another Walthers wellcar conversion, to approximate CP Rail 48' 3-unit NSC wellcars (easy conversion!):

I have finally finished a SOO SD60M I have had on the workbench for a looooong time. This Atlas shell was given to me by a fellow TB member-- a typical Trainboard example of generosity!-- So I weathered it, added a number of decals to match the prototype, added a styrene "traction motor" to the front truck, a frame mounted bell, winter hatch, side view mirrors, MT couplers and a plow:

Something a little different today: From the mountains south of Scranton, a Reading and Northern export coal train, destined for interchange with NS who will continue on to the port of Baltimore:









These are two Kato SD40-2's, one snoot and the other a mid production that I repainted and decaled for RBMN. I ordered a custom set of decals as the Microscale sets are not right for modern RBMN locos- the writing is not accurate and is too long and the safety stripes are also incorrect (I did not order new safety stripes), after splicing it all together this was the result.

I am getting close to starting work on the intermodal yard conversion to "winter" and was going through some old folders. In doing so I found that many of my old photos are blocked out on this thread for some reason, so I figured I'd just re-post them until the intermodal ops are photo worthy!

A pair of custom painted STLH SD40-2's (on my CP D&H sub these are the last two SD40-2's in STLH scheme)



Custom painted SOO 6614 (on my D&H division this is the sole SOO SD40-2, although there is a CP 6614 SD40-2 as well):




CP 5960, custom painted CP SD40-2, this was from a low headlight Kato so it got the bell:



CP 5427, an ex-MP SD40-2 (one of several high headlight SD40-2's on my roster)



Well thats it until I get some more work done, excited to almost be ready to pull the intermodal yard down. In preparation I have finally weathered my last set of Kato Maxi IV's and got my first set of BLMA 53' spines assembled and weathered, as well as a side container loader, much fun ahead, until then,

I love how your engines turned out! Especially those StL&H units, I've always had a soft spot for those. I still haven't been able to master painting the CP red, you'll have to break down your recipe for me sometime.

How did those NS coal gons get so far North?

Thanks! Not too far north, my layout tops out at the Albany area of New York and the Southern end is Philadelphia. NS runs a coal train over CP and Guilford (Pan Am) to Bow, New Hampshire, and throughout eastern PA!

Sandro- thanks! The rust on the side sills is raw umber acrylic paint applied with a wide brush I cut to be entirely uneven and only lightly dabbed in the paint. A single stroke applies an uneven coverage as you see there, and can obviously be applied over and over for the desired coverage.

Those locomotives look great, also where did you get those figures in the Northbound CP Intermodal picture? Keep up the great work. Learning alot from this thread.

Those figures are a Kato set, forget what it is called, but it is the only one like it. I did a bit of mild painting to make it look a bit more American, but otherwise they are stock.
