I'm excited. Like just previously said all of their boxcars are very nicely priced, esp. considering they have MTL trucks/couplers. Further, they constantly put out new roadnames and numbers.

Add in what ever detail related new feature that's being touted and I think we have reason to be happy. Especially since Kato is going to do it as well...we can't lose really. If it's not good oh well there's Kato's. But there's potential for something different and definitely a company who's okay with trying multiple road names and not just UP/BNSF.

True, but locos prices in general are pricey and if they are "low rate"/smaller mfgr's the prices are even higher.

Darn! It happened while I was asleep anyway.
We don't know what they are going to be like yet, or the price, they might be worth paying a bit more for. We can't expect manufacturers to continue improving quality without someone paying for it.
With Kato pumping out Santa Fe passenger trains and Athearn's FP/F45's, not to mention BLI finally producing something, I'm leaning the other way, to the 50's and 60's, and maybe a little 70's. I'm still holding out for someone to do an RSD15 and decent Alco and FM switchers though.

Bottom line is that it's good to see someone new to locomotives having a go, I hope they come out with a good product and do well. While some are saying "but they've never done a locomotive before", there was a time when no one had heard of Kato either.

I'm pumped. Since I run BNSF I'm sure I will aquire some. I have 24 of the FVM RD-4 hoppers (NSPX reporting marks) and they are top shelf.

Why? I do both the late steam era and the Modern era. I like them both and besides it's my railroad and i'm the CEO and CFO. So it may be the FVM guys eh! I'm in for some Gevo's. Bring them on!!!!

from what i know fvm considers doing two different truck designs. depending on requests.
i also tried to convince them to do two numbered and one unnumbered per paint scheme.

    we'll see.

    GEVO's coming!

Well it's true; at the N Scale Collectors Convention this week I saw them with my own two eyes, the test models. I must say they look really nice even though the ones on display were undecorated the details were there. I also caught them thru my camera lens, I will post the pictures tomorrow.

For my wallet it's a good thing that these engines are far too new for me.... :)

The Milwaukee box car is a great model, I received one from George and wonder whether the local (German) dealer will be able to deliver, too. Hopefully there will be re-runs of the body styles.

If they would ever consider a first-generation diesel, my wallet would be no longer happy....

    Teaming up?

Could it be that FVM is teaming up with an other manufacturer to produce their loco?
With other manufactures having more experience in producing locomotives this would make sense to me.
I could be wrong but you never know.

All N scale locomotives except Kato are manufactured in China, probably mostly at the same factory these days, so whoever is actually making it will no doubt already have experience in producing locomotives. It just depends on how closely FVM watches quality control and how strict are the specifications they give their manufacturer. We should stop calling the companies that sell us locomotives 'manufacturers', most of them other than Kato are not, anyone with the money to invest can get engines made in China.
The mechanism poking its nose into the corner of the picture looks a lot like Atlas, the handrails on the shells look very fine. FVM must have been working on this for quite a while to be this far advanced.

Some more details gleaned from the convention: Multiple shells wil be produced so many variations can be made. DCC will be plug-in based. No cast-on grabs at all. Dimples will be provided for drilling and wire grabs will be included in the box for the modeler to install or not.

I hate to say it, but modeler applied grabs will kill sales for FVM. That's nearly a proven fact. How many pix of Kato Dash 9's do we see without just those 2 grabs on the on hood not installed?

A person deciding not to install those 2 grabs and a person who decides not to buy because the grabs aren't installed are two different things. You don't see many Dash-9s sitting on shelves because the handrails aren't pre-installed.

What schemes were shown in that diagram? I see the roads listed on PWRS site - do they correspond? I see no CSX, but I do see NS...
