Apparently in the current NSR there is an ad on P. 59 for "someone" who is announcing GEVO's in N-scale. No manufacturer is listed in the ad - undoubtely a teaser for the upcoming NSC in Portland.

    Anyone know the scoop????

I'm curious to know, too. I hope it's Kato. They've done a great job with other modern GE engines. Al

I agree - and they may be doing it - but it does not look like a Kato ad. It looks like an Atlas ad from the graphics. Another possibility is BLMA.

I think the blue in the ad is an important clue. My first guess is Athearn. Second is Exactrail.
Or Dapol? Didn't they make a big announcement last year that they were going to enter the US market, and we haven't seen anything yet?
Either way, I'm looking forward to more modern power! :)

I would look to California. But if my gut instinct is wrong it wouldn't be my only error today.

I anxiously went to the Dapol booth at the National Train Show last year. Their lack of US product was very disappointing. Kind of like Precision Craft. Except Precision Craft/BLI actually released product.
Dapol didn't even announce any specific North American product.

    Dapol US credibility = 0

IF the blue is a hint, as wigwag states, I'll put 20 on Athearn...and while my railroad is an EMD bastion, BNSF and CP use them, so, I'll be picking up a bunch I'm afraid...but seriously, I hope it isn't Athearn, they still can not seem to build a quiet motor, much less install one..

I really wish Kato would do them........They already have a proven mech. and I don't want to pre-order any more Duds!:tb-sad:

You are wrong my freind, i have 7 of the FP45's and all of them run quiet and smooth, yes some of their earlier attempts like the SD70M had some noise issues but their newest releases are top notch. Now for them to shrink the HO version of the UP turbine down to N scale then all will be right. But if all fails i'll take some GEVOs.

Dave, that's great news - and echos what I've heard from others. How is their speed range - ie. close to Kato or Atlas? I guess that can be fixed with DCC, but I'm just curious.

    Thx!

Hope it's Kato, Atlas would be okay although if the price of the 8-40CWs is any indication of what they would charge meh. Sounds like it's going to be Athearn which doesn't thrill me. If it was BLMA good for Craig. Imagine if they came fully detailed RTR on top of an Atlas mech - that would be interesting.

No one's mentioned Intermountain. It doesn't fit the blue-clue and with just having announced the SD40-2W I think it's a stretch. Hopefully if it is them they've learned from the mistakes of the tunnel motors.

    Cmon Kato....

Didn't Athearn get molds from Tower 55 in HO for the Gevo?

I wouldn't mind an Athearn Gevo, their SD75M pulls great and looks good.

They did buy Tower 55 a while back. I think I'll place my money on Athearn now.
I have 4 of their FP45's and 2 of the SD70M's and like them all. I'll gladly buy GEVO's from them. I'm still hoping for the Turbines and 4-8-4's from them in N scale.

I have 3 of the dcc/sound units and they run great together and the other 4 were dc before i converted them to dcc. The speed ranges of all them are pretty well matched but if your running dcc you can adjust it. They are about on par with both kato and Atlas imo. Btw, i'm glad to see that Athearn went to Tsunami (soundtraxx) for there decoders.

I hope is not Athearns. I had 6 of there CSX SD70m and I got rid of them when Kato came out with theres. I just could not get over the fact that they look smaller than my Atlas SD60M and the cab window had the Coke bottle effect. I am hoping its Atlas or Kato who both have show to do a proper GE.
