Charlie et al, would it be possible for you guys to add the proper code so we can embed Vimeo videos just like we can youtube videos? I know for youtube it's "http://www.youtube.com/########" same thing can be done I guess for Vimeo, where it's "http://www.vimeo.com/########" I know a few of us are going with Vimeo instead of youtube. Don't know how hard this would be, or if you even have time. Would be cool though! Thanks for the consideration, Mike
I would like to second that request. I think Vimeo has the potential to quickly overthrow youtube's popularity due to it's amazingly superior, user friendly, interface. Hopefully this can easily be done.
It's always great when new features like this can get added...
Yes, thanks for looking into it Charlie Hopefully a plug in will be available soon. This would be great! Somehow I think that the extra step to go to the Vimeo site and then view the video detracts from having the ability to play the video right there in the thread. I think some people might skip it that extra step when voting time comes. JMO though. Thanks again Charlie! -Mike
Anyhting is better than Tube...I won't post there anymore as I picked up some strange stalker type when I did
You don't get anything FREE! IMHO any "FREE" service on the net is going to get you stalkers, viruses, junk e-mail, ad nauseam. Somebody has to pay for the web space and server time. If it isn't you then its going to be people who want to know about you. So, again IMHO, Vimeo is going to be just like You Tube as to privacy. I don't do videos, so I do not know the viability of this suggestion. Why not load the video in Trainboard's Rail Images, using a site that you know you can trust?
I tryed to, but with my limited software to make any changes needed so I was unable to upload to railimages. IMO
Actaully, RailImages has very limited video capability so anything beyond a few seconds can't be uploaded. This is why I us YouTube these days as it does embedded very well with the current TrainBoard software. When other options such as Vimeo opens up I will review that. Personal note from me I tryed to up load to Youtube only to spend time setting up a account the haveing my video fail to up load. as long as I can link to Vimeo works for me (I know it's a extra step for others but work with what you got right)
Thanks for the update! The biggest advantage during the upload process on vimeo is the timer and percentage bar that actually works. It tells you just how much is uploaded and gives an accurate estimation of the time remaining. Youtube's progress bar is not linked to the actual data transfer and does not represent the actual percentage of the file that is uploaded. It's just for show.
