Let's hope someone will want those engines. Having them cut up is an awful fate.

    Potash Train

Last weekend as we were heading home from Utah we passed the Potash train just north of Moab.

Ben, interesting tidbit with that scale test car midtrain--I always thought they had to handled as the last car on any train. They are also restricted to 25 or 30 MPH since they have no brakes.

Interesting indeed! I wonder if the were dropping it off at Crescent Jct? The track speed between there and Potash appears to be fairly slow.

Last Saturday I headed out with the family to Utah. As we traveled west on I-70 we caught up to this BNSF for a few early morning shots.

We plan to head back for some more camping next weekend and hope to catch another train or two.

Nice catch with the ex ATSF and BN locos Ben!

I was up camping in Northern Utah, and took a day to railfan along UP's Weber Canyon. Luck was no where near me, was able to only catch one train while out of the truck. Everything else went by while traveling along the freeway.

    Just west of Mountain Green

and no, I was not the one who put the water bottle on the tracks, but I did go remove it.

After numerous stops with no action, the last stop of the day was at Echo. Just a few hoppers and some old ties were to be had.

Going through Provo, I stopped by the yard to see what was happening on Labor Day. Apparently no labor was happening!

    yard was nice and tidy

Great stuff. While in Provo, did you run into any railfans? James Belmont is a prolific railfan from the SLC area, and posts a TON of great stuff from modern day and 'Grande times as well on Railpictures.net.

Took some of these photos a few years ago (2009 I think) when driving with the family through Utah. I knew we were stopping in Ogden, I ensured that we went the railroad museum there. What I didn't expect was a stop in Promontory. We arrived in time to catch the last demonstration run for the day.

I think my mom must have taken this one as I am in the photo (the kid on the left)

This would be even more at home in Colorado

There I am again, getting in the way.

This was a rather lucky catch, had we not lingered a little longer, I wouldn't have seen this.

I also got lucky and I managed to video tape the arrival of a Frontrunner Commuter Train.
