I have one of the "Gorre & Daphetid" cars. It came in a USAT blue box with the standard add-on parts. The bottom of the car has Charles Ro Manufacturing cast into it. I believe it was done as a custom run to commemorate John Allen
I have added your find to my album as well. http://www.trainboard.com/grapevine/...hp?albumid=917 Happy Railroading! GovB
GovB, You will find many USA custom run pictures I posted thru out this thread. If you don't mind going thru all 20 pages on here you can re-post those photos into your nice custom run photo album. You will find many C stock numbers, U stock numbers, X stock numbers and I believe I even posted pictures or protoypes. It woould be nice to have all of those pictures in one spot, since you have started that nice album I believe the honor is yours.
EMDtrainman / GovB, I've got a fairly good collection of the USAT billboard reefers. Please let me know of any models where you are missing pictures and I'll see if I have that model so the picture can be added to the gallery.
Thanks, will be glad to. May take a while, but no problem. Being retired gives me a few extra hours a day for things like this. I'll start at the front and work my way back (sounds logical). Happy Railroading! GovB
Thanks "355". I will sure let you know. I have put together a sizeable PDF of Trainman's lists and will let you know which ones I'm looking for. Happy Railroading! GovB
GovB and dahlbpe355, both of you are very helpful to this thread and glad you both joined up. It would be nice to put together a USA Trains American series woodside box car and a woodside reefer picture album, especially in PDF format. The only problem I have is when I tried to post the Charles Ro reefer pdf picture album I had, it was too big for it to be loaded on Train Board. We have a very small max file load for PDF files for some unknown reason. For now, maybe making a photo album is the way to go. Well we have good knowledable people on board to help out with the woodside reefer cars, now we need to exlpore avenues on bringing the American series box car up to speed both in pictures and info. Remember these could be either woodside or simulated steel, USA Trains ran both in the same R1900 series stock numbers.
dalphe355, Here are the empty slots for photos in my R1900/19000 Series PDF. If you have any photos of these that YOU have taken let me know. You will receive full credit. I could use them as some I have are without permission for use. Thanks, Happy Railroading! The Lowenbrau car may be a prototype for the car which was actually released. I've acquired a couple of these type of cars where USAT was playing with the background color for the car. The prototypes came in standard blue boxes with tags indicating the "final" model number. There may have been several different prototypes for the Lowenbrau car but each is a one-off.
I had this exchange with USA Trains today dealing with my request to re-post USAT photos in PDFs I am prepairing for usa on Trainboard. ============ Charlie, Many thanks. I appreciate your help. Let me know if we need to change anything. GovB Here is a link to an example of what the finished product(s) will look like. Would you permit us to use your photos in this effort? They would be scanned from current and past catalogs and copied from your web site if so permitted. I look forward to your reply Thank you for your time, GovB on Trainboard.com
Great work GovB. Mr Charles Ro is a great person to deal with and he understands his product will get better exposure by giving permission to re post these pictures. I will be meeting with Charles Ro Sr and Jr in person at the East Coast Large Scale train show, I'll make sure he knows I'm also from Train Board when I visit them. I'm glad to see many helping hands in this important registry. I was given a preview of the USA Trains PDF by GovB and let me tell everyone in advance, he did a great job. Now that he has permission to post these pictures, everyone who wants to see actual pictures of older and out of stock USA Trains.
All, Just got the latest sale flyer from Charles Ro Supply Co. for their St. Patricks Day sale. If you haven't signed up for their email notices you may miss out. Happy Railroading, GovB
Missing Link Found? I found this one on eBay yesterday. R1983 Hercules Powder Company #537 – Box Car – Steel with Wood Doors. My list didn't have an entry for this number. Happy Railroading! GovB
Recent Discovery I found this on our favorite auction web site; R1926 Los Angeles & Pacific Co. "Ballon Route" #408 – Box Car – Wood. I didn't have this photo or have even see this item until today. Photo courtesy of Phil Harrington. Happy Railroading! GovB
Another Recent Discovery Here is an "uncataloged" box car and said to have original USAT box and sleeve. Of course it's not on our lists but does anyone know about this item? Happy Railroading! GovB USA Trains -Beaver Valley Salt Box Car countryrose753
