I have taken a chance a few times on poor or low feedback numbers. I practically stole a loco because he was a new Ebay-er. He wanted to get feedback and was willing to part with stuff. Other times low feedback might just be due to one obnoxious or uninformed buyer, often new at Ebay buying, giving a seller multiple negatives. I will take a reasonable chance knowing that others will not.
I've seen this many, many times. Newbies who seem to believe they do not need to thoroughly read an item description, or worse, have a ridiculous expectation of post-win instant item delivery.
This one I'm sure that he messed up on the price. Some 'natural wood pallets, some barrels and 3 figures' $2000 http://www.ebay.com/itm/NATURAL-WOO...168673?pt=Model_RR_Trains&hash=item5af64b06a1
Thank the maker I never went through that phase. I mean, I know that each step of the delivery chain takes at least one business day and that's the absolute best case scenario unless it's a rush/priority shipment.
MiniTrix 0-6-0 with $15.00 price tag still on box. Hey, he's an honest seller, just trying to get $346 (plus $15.25 shipping): http://www.ebay.com/itm/MINITRIX-ST...914351?pt=Model_RR_Trains&hash=item35b81905ef MiniTrix 0-6-0 with $45.95 price tag still on box. Same $346. http://www.ebay.com/itm/MINITRIX-ST...425715?pt=Model_RR_Trains&hash=item4cfd043473 Everything he's selling is ridiculously priced: 5 Concor freight cars $59 and $17.25 shipping: http://www.ebay.com/itm/5-CON-COR-T...884939?pt=Model_RR_Trains&hash=item35b827d54b An Atlas D&H RS-3 $195: http://www.ebay.com/itm/ATLAS-RS-3-...233138?pt=Model_RR_Trains&hash=item35b81de332 An Atlas/Rivarossi 4-6-2 for $166: http://www.ebay.com/itm/ATLAS-STEAM...435434?pt=Model_RR_Trains&hash=item4cfd045a6a 6 Model Power built plastic houses $46: http://www.ebay.com/itm/ATLAS-STEAM...435434?pt=Model_RR_Trains&hash=item4cfd045a6a ...and it keeps on going.
Is Atlas code 80 snap track worth about $1 a section ($345 for 370 pieces)? http://www.ebay.com/itm/ATLAS-N-SCA...583884?pt=Model_RR_Trains&hash=item41789f5bcc
If it is actually 370 pieces and based on the fact that it's not all curves and straight pieces, it's not too ridiculous but high since it's not all new and optimistic since not everyone is going to want everything they are offering. However, from the perspective of shipping to Canada, the $34 shipping and the $85 import charges move it into the nutty category.
Wow, I have one of these to list and I was taking a look to see what might be a good starting price and all I can say is somebody wants this one bad! http://www.ebay.com/itm/ATLAS-47510...188331?pt=Model_RR_Trains&hash=item43c105bfeb
I've got a buddy looking for several MILW units and a GP30 is on his list. He showed this to me the other day and I was astounded. I've seen them go in the 80-90 range, but never this high! It hit the $200 mark with 5 days left.
Holy...!!!! Wish Ii still had my pair of MILW GP30's. I'd be rich and could move to the South Pacific!
It's best to be the first to list the item in question, though. I sold an early MT runner pack that a couple of buyers bid up higher than I expected. The next week there was about six of them listed and those sellers were lucky to get MSRP. Let see how many MIWL GP30s get listed after this episode.
I have also seen this many times. Might be a bit of fun to watch and see if others do try climbing aboard the bandwagon.
